Beyonce ‘Decided Not To Continue Movies,’ Says Mother Tina

Fans of Beyonce’s theatrical performances in “Dreamgirls” and “Austin Powers: Goldmember” are in for a bit of disappointment.

It appears that Beyonce Knowles is no longer interested in doing movies. This comes from her mother, Tina’s, Instagram via Billboard

Beyonce Donated her Earnings to Charity

The news comes along with a clip of the song “All I Could Do Was Cry” from the 2008 movie “Cadillac Records” in which Beyonce takes on the role of Etta James. In the film, Adrien Brody’s Leonard Chess starts a music label Chess Records, hiring singers like Jeffrey Wright and Columbus Shorts’s Muddy Waters and Little Walter respectively.

“This is still one of my favorite movies and it makes me miss the fact that my child decided not to continue with movies. She killed it in this movie. and [sic] she so unselfishly donated her salary to the Phoenix house,” Knowles writes.

Phoenix House is a nonprofit for substance abuse and recovery with locations all over the nation.

Fans Love Beyonce’s Performance as the Legendary Singer

Knowles’s comment section for the post is lighting up with praise for Beyonce as the clip makes its rounds. Both the performance and the donation are getting kudos.

Actress Holly Peete wrote “Because she is the kind of quiet effective philanthropist that does and doesn’t talk about it!! The best kind.”

Another user commented “She sang those songs better than Etta James herself, I’d sell my kidney to hear Beyoncé sing this song live. I wonder why she never has.”

One other user wrote “she absolutely dug deep for this. the emotion was so present. one of my favorites as well ma.”

A Small but Dense Film Resume

Beyonce’s filmography is mostly made up of early 2000’s movies. They range in genre from comedy to musical biography. After the 2013 animated flop “Epic,” the singer took a six year break until 2019’s The Lion King” in which she played Nala. She took on the same role for the movie’s sequel/prequel, “Mufasa: The Lion King.”

Beyonce also released a soundtrack album titled “The Lion King: The Gift” for the former. Lin-Manuel Miranda took on musical responsibilities in the latter movie.

Beyonce is set to go on tour later this year with her “Cowboy Carter Rodeo Chitlin’ Circuit Tour.” Stops include Los Angeles, New York, Houston, and Atlanta among others. The tour begins in Los Angeles on April 28 and ends in Atlanta on July 11.
