“Floribama Shore‘ star Kirk Medas passed away on May 2 after fighting necrotizing pancreatitis for two weeks, which resulted in him being in the intensive care unit and on a ventilator.
TMZ broke the news of Medas’ heartbreaking death, including a statement from “Floribama Shore” Executive Producer SallyAnn Salsano and production company 495 Productions that said, ““We are heartbroken over the passing of Kirk Medas, a beloved member of our Floribama Shore family. Kirk brought light, laughter, and loyalty to every moment—both on screen and off. He was more than a cast member; he was family. Our hearts are with his loved ones, friends, and everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. We will forever cherish the joy and memories he gave us.”
The outlet added that it was confirmed that Medas ultimately died from liver failure as a result of the necrotizing pancreatitis.
This comes after many of his former cast members made pleas to the fans to pray for Medas and support him in any way they can, including a link to a GoFundMe to help with the medical bills. And after the news was made public that he had passed away, they took to social media, posting touching tributes.
Nilsa Prowant Says Kirk Medas Was ‘One Of My Favorite People In The Whole World’
Nilsa Prowant was the first to break the news that Medas was in the ICU on the ventilator, posting a long video on Instagram explaining the situation. She followed it up, posting a series of photos and a video of the two, keeping fans updated.
But after the news of Medas’ passing, she posted a touching tribute to her friend.
“A picture is worth a thousand words and these are my favorite. Kirk was one of my favorite people in the whole world. Anytime you needed a friend, Kirk was always there. His laugh was contagious, you always wanted to hear more. He loved and lived life to the fullest. Our story is unique. A once in a lifetime chance of meeting. 8 strangers from all over the south who probably would’ve have crossed paths if we never had taken that crazy opportunity and I’m forever grateful we did. You were more than a roommate to me (and all of us) you were our brother. You saw the good in every person you met. Made light in dark times. Showed up every single time. My heart is broken…things will never be the same. The world lost the most beautiful, kind, and genuine person. Uncle Kirk to many, friend to all. I love you forever,” she wrote. “I just know my dad is going to love hearing your stories. Rest in paradise, Kirk ♥️ please keep his family and friends in your prayers.
Aimee Hall Says Kirk Medas’ Passing Is An ‘Unimaginable Loss’
Aimee Hall also posted a series of photos with Medas from their time on the show, with a long and heartfelt message.
“Today we lost a brother, a best friend, and heaven gained the most beautiful angel. We are all trying to process this unimaginable loss. Kirk was the glue that held us all together. He loved each and every one of us so deeply, with a heart bigger than this world,” she wrote on Instagram. “Me and Kirk started this journey together when we were just 24 years old, and from that moment on, we were family. We talked almost every single day. We worked together, we traveled together, we vacationed together—we did life together. He was there through every chapter, through every change, always ready to hold our hands and lift our spirits.”
“It’s true what they say—God really does take the best ones first. And Kirk was the best of us. His heart, his soul, his light… it was something you don’t come across often. He was our rock, our joy, and the one who kept us all connected,” she continued. “I never imagined that the last time we FaceTimed would be the last time I’d see his beautiful eyes. I never thought that the last time we vacationed together would be the last time I’d get to hug him. If I had known, I would’ve held on longer. So much longer.”
“I know Kirk is watching over all of us now, just like he always did. Please, pray for his sweet mother—no mother should ever have to endure this kind of pain. And please keep everyone who loved him in your prayers. We are hurting, but we are holding on to the love he gave us,” she concluded. “One sweet day, I know we’ll all be together again. Until then, I’ll miss him every single day.”
Codi Butts Says His ‘Heart Is Absolutely Broken’

I wish this was a bad dream that I could just wake up from. Thank you Kirk for giving me some of the best years of my life. You have made me a better person. I will forever love you and cherish our friendship!,” Butts posted on Instagram.
Candace Rice Reveals Kirk Medas Sent Her a Message From The Hospital
Candace Rice explained how she struggled to accept the news and write the tribute to Medas.
“I’m sure I’m the last to post. It’s hitting me hard that this is a new reality. I can barely sleep. My brother. My friend. I was for sure you’ll pull through. You sent me a voice memo in the hospital, and I didn’t keep it. I was for sure you’d pull through. I’ve been mourning all I couldn’t wait to see for you… the type of person you were would have been the best husband, amazing father (the kids love Kirk baby), and Kirk wanted to transition into acting and entrepreneurship,” Rice wrote on Instagram. “Kirk understood my humor better than anyone else. I’ve lived my whole life misunderstood and masking. Talking to Kirk was a safe space for me…I never had to mask with him. You could vent to Kirk, party with Kirk, cry with Kirk, and vibe with Kirk… he was that type of person. An overall amazing guy for lack of more unique words.”
Kirk was pure and didn’t gatekeep anything. As I’ve been transitioning to ATL, the first thing I was worried about was building community here and taking care of Maxwell and his needs on my own. I was soo mad at Kirk for moving to Miami and the first thing Kirk said was, “i gotchu. imma put you on to my good friends for u to hang with and help you get a job at a nice bar in Buckhead or some boogie area, u pretty and talk well, that’s enough” 😂 . He was ready to help anyone, at any moment if he could,” she added. “Kirk was loved beyond understanding. He was a wild free spirit… and I know he got Heaven jumping right now. There’ll never be another @kirkmedas . You’re an MTV icon… in actual REAL life. Adored in real life. Changed lives with your infectious energy in real life.”
“Every time I eat a piece of chicken off the grill… imma just go ahead and burn my tongue. I KNOW Kirk’s spirit behind me making sure I eat it hot 😂,” she concluded. “Love you forever Kirk. I know heaven couldn’t WAIT for you…”
