The Chrisley family is coming back to television! After their headline-making prison sentences and a surprising presidential pardon, Todd and Julie Chrisley are returning to television in a brand-new docuseries for Lifetime. But fans expecting another season of “Chrisley Knows Best” should prepare for a major tonal shift.
A New Chapter Begins for the Chrisley Family
Todd and Julie were officially released from federal prison on May 28 after receiving a pardon from President Donald Trump. While many might expect the couple to lay low, the Chrisleys are already diving into new ventures. And that includes multiple TV projects.
Per TV Insider, Todd shared that he and Julie plan to relocate to Charleston, South Carolina, with dreams of opening a boutique hotel and creating “a show around that.” However, the big news is their upcoming Lifetime docuseries, which began filming before their release and resumed immediately upon their return home.
According to their daughter Savannah Chrisley, the original plan was to revolve the series around her and her younger siblings, Grayson and Chloe, who she became legal guardian of during her parents’ incarceration. But that changed as soon as her parents walked out of prison.
“We had just wrapped filming…and then we get the call they’d been pardoned, so we picked right back up,” Savannah revealed.
A Tonal Shift From ‘Chrisley Knows Best’
Unlike the polished, sitcom-style format of “Chrisley Knows Best,” this new series promises a raw and honest look at the family’s reality post-prison. Lifetime teased that this time around, Todd and Julie won’t necessarily be the center of control — or even the stars. The show will focus more on the shifting family dynamics and how each member is adjusting to their new normal.
“The Chrisleys don’t know best anymore, but they’re doing their best to be there for each other,” Lifetime said in their official statement.
Chase promised a different vibe from the “family sitcom” style of the reality show that made the Chrisleys famous. It will have funny moments, but the show will be much more serious and stripped down.
“It’s very different than ‘Chrisley Knows Best,’ because as I’m sure anyone knows, ‘Chrisley Knows Best’ was a family sitcom. This is just raw, raw footage, raw. I’m like, ‘Can we go back to Chrisley Knows Best?’ Yeah, [like], ‘Let’s just laugh,'” Chase explained.
The Chrisley Family Is Still Filming Their New Docuseries
Lifetime has not yet announced a premiere date for the new series, but it will likely be at the end of this year or early 2026. Production has not officially wrapped, and they are “still filming a little bit.” But instead of playing characters, the family is showing different sides of themselves.
“I feel like for so long on ‘Chrisley Knows Best,’ I played a character. Savannah played a character. We all did. We’re actually [finally] able to be open and vulnerable, and show the highs, and show the lows, and no matter how low we get kicked down, we’re still going to get back [up],” Chase said.
For fans who are interested in catching up with the Chrisleys before their new shows hit screens, they can check out Todd and Julie’s new “Chrisley Confessions 2.0” podcast where they dive deep into their post-prison lives.
