Kim Kardashian to Bravely Take the Stand in Trial

The Kardashians have been the subject of many noteworthy events and gossip, which is probably a big reason their various reality shows have continued as long as they have. But it’s hard to think of any event more shocking than Kim Kardashian‘s Paris robbery in 2016.

While her life has changed dramatically since that night’s events, one thing has yet to occur: a trial. A decade later, the Parisian underground gang accused of the robbery is finally being prosecuted. Kim, for her part, will bravely relive that fateful evening when she testifies on the stand in May.

One Man Accused of Robbery Sent Apology Letter, Another Wrote a Book

According to the Daily Mail, 12 people will go to trial on April 28. One of the men who will stand trial is Aomar Ait Khedache, who is believed to be the mastermind behind the incident. A year after holding her at gunpoint and stealing her jewelry, TMZ reported that he sent her an apology letter.

“I want to come to you as a human being to tell you how much I regret my gesture, how much I have been moved and touched to see you in tears,” he wrote in the translated letter. “Know that I fully sympathize with the pain you are enduring, your children, your husband, and your close ones. I hope this letter will allow you to forget little by little the trauma that you suffered by my fault.”

His reaction is much different than Yunis Abbas, who has since written a book about the robbery. “I saw one of her shows where she threw her diamond in the pool, in that episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians,” he told VICE. “I thought, ‘She’s got a lot of money. This lady doesn’t care at all.'” He claimed he had no remorse, saying, “Since she was throwing money away, I was there to collect it, and that was that.”

Kim Kardashian Recalled Terrifying Moment Robbers Broke into Her Room

When the robbers, dressed as policemen and wearing masks, first got into her room, they kept saying ‘the ring.” Because she was so shocked, it took her a minute to realize what they were saying. She quickly handed them her $4 million engagement ring, the same ring she’d been showing on social media earlier.

“He grabbed me and pulled me towards him, but I wasn’t wearing anything underneath,” she said on “My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman.” So I was like, ‘Okay, this is the time that I’m going to get raped, like just, deal, it’s gonna happen.’ You know, like, ‘just prepare yourself.’ So I did, and then — I don’t know why I’m crying, I’ve talked about this before — but then he tied me up. With handcuffs and then zip ties and then duct tape. And then duct taped my mouth and my eyes.”

It was right before he duct taped her eyes that Kim discovered exactly what they were after. “Before he had my eyes — before he duct taped my eyes, because that was the last thing. I saw he found my whole jewelry box, and held it up, like ‘Aha!'” she recalled.
