Kim Kardashian Gives Rare Insight Into Khloe’s Support During Her First Divorce

After watching their daily lives on “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” and Hulu’s “The Kardashians,” it often seems like we know everything there is to know about the Kardashian/Jenner clan. However, one topic we admittedly know little about is Kim Kardashian’s first marriage to Damon Thomas. In the most recent episode of “The Kardashians,” she reveals the extraordinary help she received from Khloe during that turbulent period.

She Gave Kim Her Savings so She Could Move Out

Season 6, Episode 5 celebrates Khloe’s 40th birthday. Along with photos and videos showing the socialite growing up and having fun with her family, everyone shares stories and anecdotes about the wonderful person she is. But it’s Kim’s story that is the most touching.

“When Khloe was, like, just maybe four or five years old, she got this piggy bank that was, like, as tall as us. And it was, like, a Coke bottle and we would put so much money in it,” Kim said. “And when I was getting my first divorce, I moved out, and I had no money. I think I was, like, 21, and she was like, ‘Here, you can have my Coke bottle.'”

“She was crying in my room, and I was just like, ‘Okay, I have, I have this Coke bottle. Like, let’s take what’s in here. Let’s go to the bank, and let’s cash it, and let’s use this money for your divorce,'” Khloe recalled. “I gave her all that I got, and hopefully helped her.”

After counting the money all night, they discovered that the $6000 in the piggy bank was just what Kim needed to pay the first and last month’s rent on an apartment.

Kim Never Forgot Khloe’s Selfless Act

The sisters have grown up and changed a lot since Khloe was 17 and Kim was 21. The days of borrowing $6000 from her sister so she can afford an apartment are far, far behind Kim. But she never forgot that Khloe was willing to give her every penny she had so Kim had a place to live.

“So, for her birthday, I found the same Coke bottle piggy bank and I filled it up, and I was like, ‘Thank you,'” Kim said. “She couldn’t believe I remembered the Coke bottle, and I was like, ‘How could I not?'”

Kim’s second marriage to Kris Humphries played out during “Keeping Up With the Kardashians,” while the media covered much of her third marriage to Kanye West. Kim has rarely spoken about her first marriage or divorce from Thomas, but at least we know she had the love of her family and a caring sister to help her through it.
