Sophia Hutchins, Caitlyn Jenner’s close friend and longtime manager, has died at age 29 after a devastating ATV crash in Malibu, California.
(Photo by Ilya S. Savenok/Getty Images for Harper\'s BAZAAR)According to TMZ, Hutchins was driving the vehicle near Jenner’s $3.5 million Malibu condo on Wednesday morning when she collided with the bumper of a moving car. The impact caused her ATV to veer off the road and down a 350-foot ravine.
People confirmed the news that emergency responders pronounced Hutchins dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and it remains unclear where Jenner, 75, was at the time of the crash.
Sophia’s Relationship with the Jenner-Kardashian Family
Hutchins and Jenner first met in 2015 through their hairstylists, shortly after Jenner publicly came out as transgender. The two quickly formed a deep connection, both personally and professionally.

“It was never romantic. Never sexual. It was very much friends, but I understand why people perceived it that way,” Hutchins told the New York Times in 2018. She added, “It’s more parental. I date guys. And Caitlyn’s like, I gotta sign off on him. It’s very parental, very protective. We’re family.”
“There’s no hanky panky,” she told People in 2021. “I feel like I’ve been saying that for the past five years.”
A Familiar Face Within the Kardashian-Jenner Circle
As Jenner’s confidante and business partner, Hutchins became close with the wider Kardashian-Jenner family. She frequently attended family gatherings and appeared at Kylie Jenner’s 21st birthday party in 2018.
In 2020, she modeled in a campaign for Kim Kardashian’s SKIMS shapewear brand, marking her growing presence within the Kardashian-Jenner family.
“I’m on good terms with all the family, but I’m closest with Kris, Kim, Kylie, and Kendall,” Hutchins shared in a 2019 interview.
