Actress Zooey Deschanel and her fiance, HGTV star Jonathan Scott, were each other’s dates at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party.
Scott and Deschanel posed together on the red carpet for the event, held on March 2. Deschanel opted to wear a belted black cap-sleeved dress, sheer tights, and knee-high boots. Meanwhile, Scott wore slacks, a white button-down, and a velvet blazer.
While speaking to The Hollywood Reporter on the red carpet for the 2025 Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscars viewing party, Deschanel shared her favorite Elton John song.
“I’m going to pick a really weird one. ‘Philadelphia Freedom.’ I love that song. It’s really good,” said Deschanel to the publication.
Zooey Deschanel Spoke About Her Wedding Plans
During a February 2025 interview with Access Hollywood at the 2025 SAG Awards red carpet, alongside Scott, Deschanel shared whether she and her fiance will get married in 2025. As fans are aware, Deschanel and Scott got engaged in 2023.
Deschanel told the publication they “don’t want to rush” getting married because they want the wedding “to be really awesome.”
“So we don’t want to rush. So if that means 2025 then great. If that means 2026, it’s cool too,” said Deschanel during the interview.
Scott briefly mentioned his wedding plans during a June 2024 interview on “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” He shared that he and Deschanel want their wedding to be “nice and intimate.”
“We just want an [expletive] party with people we love,” said Scott.
Both Scott and Deschanel have previously been married. Deschanel divorced her first husband, singer Ben Gibbard in 2012. She and her second husband, Jacob Pechenik, the father of her children, Elsie Otter and Charlie Wolf, ended their marriage in 2020. Scott divorced his ex-wife, Kelsy Ully, in 2013.
Jonathan Scott Gave an Update About Rebuilding Zooey Deschanel’s Childhood Home
Deschanel announced that her parents, Mary Jo Deschanel and Caleb Deschanel, lost their home where she grew up, because of the Palisades fires in a January 2025 Instagram upload. Scott took to the post’s comments section to share that he would help rebuild the property.
“💔so many fond memories. Absolutely heartbreaking. Know that I will do whatever it takes to restore its original beauty to the best of my abilities. Nothing can replace the beauty and history of the original home. But it’s the best way we can honor it. ❤️,” wrote Scott.
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight at the 2025 SAG Awards, alongside his fiancee, Scott gave an update about restoring Deschanel’s childhood home.
“In two weeks I’ll have the plans ready to go,” said Scott during the interview.
Deschanel also shared she appreciated having Scott by her side during this difficult time for her family.
