While promoting the 10th season of “Celebrity IOU” in New York, HGTV’s Jonathan Scott — sitting down for media interviews alongside his twin brother and co-star Drew Scott — found himself telling reporters yet again that he and his fiancée, actress Zooey Deschanel, still haven’t done anything to plan their wedding — something they’ve repeated countless times since they got engaged in August 2023.
On July 11, 2025, during an appearance on “The Today Show,” Jonathan, 47, laughed, “We are the worst. We’ve been having so much fun. We’ve been traveling. We have not planned anything.”
While there’s nothing new on the wedding front for the longtime couple, Jonathan did raise eyebrows in an interview with Andy Cohen on his SiriusXM Radio show that aired the same morning. When the Bravo star asked whether he and Deschanel, 45, would like to expand their family, Jonathan did not say no.
“Are you two gonna have more?” Cohen asked, and Jonathan replied, “Uh, you know what, you never know what the world is gonna bring.”
Jonathan Scott Has Been Stepdad to Zooey Deschanel’s Kids Since They Were Little
Jonathan and Deschanel met in 2019 while appearing with their siblings on an episode of James Corden’s “Carpool Karaoke.” He lived mostly in Las Vegas at the time, but later moved full-time to Los Angeles, where the two bought and renovated an $11.7 million home they call “The Park House.”
Despite not being married, he quickly stepped into the stepdad role with Elsie, who’s now almost 10, and Charlie, 9, Deschanel’s kids with ex-husband Jacob Pechenik. When Deschanel posted a photo of the two men together on Father’s Day 2025, Jonathan commented, “Being a dad is the joy of my life 🥰”
On Radio Andy Live, Jonathan told Cohen that this has been his favorite ages with the kids so far, noting, “It doesn’t get better than right now. Flying is not easy with little kids. They are the greatest travelers of all time. We were even visiting Zooey, she was filming something, and we got stuck at the Charlotte airport on a 13-hour canceled layover. Not a peep from the kids. The kids are totally fine.” They’ll read, they’ll do the iPads.”
His brother, meanwhile, revealed that his family travels with his wife Linda Phan and their kids — son Parker, 3, and daughter Piper, 1 — was far less relaxing.
“Mine are one and three, we just got back from Europe,” Drew said, noting that they traveled to Scotland, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
“Wait, you’re an idiot,” Cohen quipped, and Drew replied, “I am an idiot. I figured get them used to it now and then it’ll only get easier.”
Zooey Deschanel Has Said Her Kids ‘Love Babies’
When Drew and Linda’s baby girl was born in June 2024, “Entertainment Tonight” caught up with her famous aunt and uncle at the Emmy Awards days after her birth.
“They’re back home, they’re resting,” Jonathan told the outlet of his brother and sister-in-law.
Deschanel said their kids were already excited to meet their new cousin, telling ET, “They love babies, so they’re excited.”
Although it remains to be seen if the couple will decide to add their own little one to the mix, they did expand their family with three cats in early 2025.
Jonathan shared the news in an Instagram post, writing, ““Our family recently grew 😻” and admitted in the video, “It might be happening. I might be becoming a cat guy.”
New episodes of “Celebrity IOU” air Wednesday nights on HGTV. Meanwhile, the Property Brothers’ two other shows slated for July starts have been pushed back amid changes and several series cancellations at the network.
