United Front: Tarek El Moussa Defends Christina Haack as Ex Josh Hall Slams Video

As Christina Haack’s contentious divorce from third husband Josh Hall drags on, her first husband — fellow HGTV star Tarek El Moussa — has made it clear he’s in her corner, especially as footage of Haack’s life with Hall pre-split has come out.

On January 6, 2025, Hall addressed the backlash he’s received since the HGTV released an uncomfortable video of him dissing Haack and wishing she’d “shut up already,” captured as they filmed a new show called “The Flip-Off” ahead of their July 2024 divorce filing.

The show, premiering on January 29, also features El Moussa, who got remarried to former “Selling Sunset” star Heather Rae El Moussa in 2021. The El Moussas were supposed to be pitted against Haack and Hall in the house flipping competition, but only Haack continued filming after their split. Even though El Moussa is competing against Haack on the show, he’s been going to battle for her amid all the latest drama with Hall.

Tarek El Moussa Sticks Up for Ex-Wife Christina Haack in Social Media Comments

Unhappy with all the media buzz about his filmed exchange with Haack that HGTV released, Hall took aim at the network in an Instagram Story on January 6. He posted a screenshot of a Fox News article about the “tense fight” and wrote over it, “TFW you can’t get enough ratings with celebrity 🏠 designers, so you rely on manufactured drama with me, a nobody. @hgtv, you’ve changed 🙄”

Haack swiftly responded by reposting Hall’s Story in her own Instagram Stories and added, “Manufactured!? Pretty sure no one at hgtv told you to be rude to me….That was all natural.”

In a second Instagram Story, Haack posted a selfie dated June 21 — nearly a month before filing for divorce — in which she was seen sitting in a car with her seatbelt on, looking distraught with tears in her eyes. Over the vulnerable photo, Haack wrote, “This was taken June 21, 2024. After one of my shoots with Josh. This is ‘real’ and a reminder to myself that I deserve better.”

One of the things that has gotten better is Haack’s relationship with El Moussa; they have come a long way since their own 2016 split and subsequent divorce in 2018. The former “Flip or Flop” co-stars admittedly went through some difficult years, but have since mended fences for the sake of their kids, 14-year-old daughter Taylor and 10-year-old son Brayden.

On the same day Hall posted his Instagram Story slamming the HGTV clip, the network posted another preview clip from “The Flip-Off,” seen above, in which Haack cries with El Moussa over her breakup with Hall. The scene touched many viewers and El Moussa took the time to respond to some of their comments, revealing how he feels about the situation.

One fan wrote to Haack, “I am so glad that you left Josh; he was a tool and you deserve much better…stay strong 😍❤️”

In response, El Moussa wrote, “this is a solid take👏👏”

“I’m so glad tarek and Christina are so close cause of their kids and how he’s supporting her through it,” another fan wrote, to which El Moussa replied, ” we do everything for the kids👏🙌”

Though “The Flip-Off” will feature El Moussa and Haack competing against each other, it will also show vulnerable moments in which they discuss their relationship and her fresh breakup. El Moussa told one fan on HGTV’s post, “this season is definitley the most raw you’ve ever seen us”

Tarek El Moussa Says Christina Haack is ‘Excited to Be On Her Own’

El Moussa’s recent comments to fans isn’t the first time he has stuck up for his ex or taken accountability for the role he played in their divorce. In his 2023 book, “Flip Your Life,” he admitted to being a “raging alcoholic” in his 20s and told Fox News Digital he “hit rock bottom” as his nine year marriage to Haack ended.

Though their split was contentious for a while, the former co-stars decided to change their ways for the sake of their children, even spending part of Christmas 2024 together as a blended family.

In December, El Moussa told Page Six, “When you have kids, it’s not about you, it’s about the kids. The second adults realize it’s about the children, not the adults, things get better.”

He also praised Haack by telling the outlet, “She’s resilient. She bounces back. She’s excited about the show, she’s excited to be on her own, with a fresh start and looking toward the future.”

“The Flip-Off” premieres on January 29 at 8 p.m. Eastern. Meanwhile, Tarek and Heather star in the second season of “The Flipping El Moussas” on Thursday nights at 9 p.m. Eastern time.
