HGTV‘s “The Flip Off” competition pits Christina Haack against her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. The trio playfully dished on what it’s like for them to work together, with Tarek sharing ex-wife Christina’s “most annoying habit” when they do renovations.
‘The Flip Off’ Stars Share What It’s Really Like to Work Together
Christina, Tarek, and Heather Rae sat down to spill the tea for a February 2025 “Entertainment Tonight” segment.
Tarek first asked Christina, “How do you really feel about working with your ex-husband again?”
She answered, “I mean, you’re alright … but I prefer your wife. She’s much more fun to work with.”
He confirmed, “I prefer her too.”
Working together definitely comes with its challenges since everyone has a different style that isn’t necessarily compatible with others.
When Christina asked Tarek to name her “most annoying habit on a renovation project,” he revealed that it comes down to the financial aspect.
“Spending too much money,” he answered.
Heather Rae Answers Big Question Fans Always Bring Up
Naturally, the conversation turned to how people think Tarek’s ex-wife and current wife have a very similar look.
Tarek asked his wife the question, “Do you think Tarek has a type — and what do you think of people saying that you and Christina look alike?”
Heather Rae joked, “Twins, like exactly the same. Identical. I’d say, don’t most people have a type?”
She added, “But I mean, she’s beautiful, so if I look like her … great!”
Heather Rae also shared her initial reaction when Tarek pitched the idea of doing a reality show with his ex. She explained, “I said, ‘Are you sure you can handle that?'”
When asked, “How did Tarek balance working alongside Christina and Heather,” he joked, “A lot of therapy.”
Tarek did enjoy making the show more than he thought he would, however.
“It was way more fun than I expected and I loved watching you guys work together because the three of us together make some really cool content,” he said. “I think we made a great TV show and it was fun.”
As for what has been the secret to “blending our families so beautifully,” Christina explained, “Communication and us moving past dumb stuff.”
She noted, “I think we’re all mature enough to move on, put the kids first … and ultimately we’ll get along and I think the show definitely brought us closer together.”
