Multiple HGTV stars impacted by major programming changes at the network, including five series cancellations announced since mid-June 2025, held their heads high over the 4th of July holiday weekend, finding the good as they face tough circumstances.
From “Bargain Block” star Keith Bynum sharing an upbeat message amid his show’s cancellation to the stars of just-canceled “Married to Real Estate” hanging out with the stars of “100 Day Dream Home” in Florida, fans were inspired by the stars’ resiliency and expressed hope they’d all land on their feet.
‘Bargain Block’ Star Keith Bynum Says They’ve Received Thousands of Messages From Fans
Bynum, co-star of “Bargain Block” with his partner Evan Thomas, told fans on July 5 that they were “starting to feel like life is going to be right again” three weeks after revealing their show was not renewed for a fifth season.
He wrote, “Hope everyone had a great 4th of July! Starting to feel like life is going to be right again. Thank you all for the thousands of messages of love and support.”
Sharing how touched they and Shea Hicks-Whitfield, their realtor co-star, have been by the response to their show’s cancellation, Bynum continued, “Me, Evan and Shea have been shocked beyond belief to see the response and we’re so grateful. We love you all and just know, we’re doing fine and will continue to work on houses and someday soon we’ll share some new stuff 🙂 Enjoy the weekend and love to you all!”
Fans flooded Bynum’s post with more support, including one who wrote, “You guys (and that includes Shea!) are the best! Not only are you entertaining to watch but what you are doing for Detroit is just amazing. I hope this isn’t the last we’ll be seeing you on television.”
Another commented, “We love you and you have so many people rooting for y’all. ❤️”
HGTV’s Mika & Brian Kleinschmidt Welcome Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson’s Family to Florida
On June 23, Egypt Sherrod revealed to fans via Instagram that she and her husband, Mike Jackson, had returned from a family vacation to the news from HGTV that their show, “Married to Real Estate,” had not been renewed for a fifth season.
After processing the shock, the couple and their three daughters packed up again and headed for Florida to see friends, including a beach getaway and a dinner date with “100 Day Dream Home” stars Mika and Brian Kleinschmidt, whose series is expected to return in the fall.
Sherrod posted multiple photos from their trip to Clearwater and St. Petersburg, writing, “Photo Dump! Clearwater Beach and St Pete owe us nothing. Just a simple break visiting family and friends while counting our blessings. ❤️❤️❤️❤️”
In the comment section, Mika wrote, “🙌❤️Power couples unite! 👏🔥” and, using her professional consulting agency account, she added, “We need to double date more often, next time we hit the town in ATL❤️🔥👏”
Sherrod and Jackson also both posted photos of them kissing on the beach, along with other family pics from their trip. On July 6, Jackson wrote on his post, “Family fun in the sun. Bothered by none. Positive vibes only.”
HGTV Girlfriends Bond on 4th of July Weekend
Another duo who bonded over the 4th of July were girlfriends Alison Victoria and Taniya Nayak. The two have co-starred with Ty Pennington on “Battle on the Beach” for four seasons, but Victoria revealed on her new podcast that it, too, has not been renewed for a fifth season.
Victoria and Nayak both posted photos in their Instagram Stories of themselves together with an ocean view behind them. The duo met filming the first season of “Battle on the Beach” in 2021, Nayak told Country Living in June 2024, before the fourth season premiered.
“I had never met Alison, and on day one, we hung out together, and we immediately became best friends,” she told the outlet. “She and I spent a lot of time outside of the show.”
Although Taniya does not have another HGTV series lined up on the network, Victoria co-stars with Retta on “Ugliest House in America” and “Scariest House in America,” and is expected to debut her new series “Sin City Rehab” in the fall.
Meanwhile, a far more unlikely HGTV duo who’ve become good friends — Heather Rae El Moussa and Christina Haack — also spent the 4th of July together. Heather, who is married to Christina’s ex-husband Tarek El Moussa, grew unexpectedly close with the “Christina on the Coast” star as they filmed “The Flip Off” in 2024.
The two shared photos and videos in the Instagram feeds and Stories on July 4th from a pool party at Christina’s house to fireworks that night, and celebrated winning a game of “champagne pong” against Tarek and Christina’s beau, Christopher Larocca.
