‘Rock the Block’ Rocks the Ratings for HGTV

Only two episodes in to season six of “Rock the Block,” HGTV’s most popular competition show is smashing it in the ratings!

According to a press release from HGTV parent company Warner Bros. Discovery, the season six debut was the highest rated season premiere on HGTV since 2023!

A whopping three-million viewers tuned in across linear and streaming platforms to see Ty Pennington shepherd four “RTB” teams who are renovating four houses just outside Salt Lake City, Utah.

By comparison, HGTV’s most popular series before “Rock the Block” debuted April 14 was season three of “Home Town Takeover.” But Erin and Ben Napier’s renovation of Sebring, Florida averaged substantially less viewers than the debut of “RTB.”

“Home Town Takeover” averaged about 1.2 million viewers each week, less than half of “Rock the Block’s” season six debut.

‘Rock the Block’ Adds Twists and Fans Are Here for It

“Rock the Block” fans are doing more than just watching the shows.

They’re also keeping up with the teams on social media.

HGTV says more than 5-million viewers have hit up HGTV’s Facebook, X (formerly known as Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Threads to see clips from the first two episodes, as well as behind-the-scenes extras.

And so far, viewers are loving the new twists for season six.

For the first time ever, season six has pitted two teams of “Rock the Block” veterans against two teams making their first appearance on the show.

Another shift: when one veteran team wins a challenge, both get a cash bonus for the next reno. And it’s the same if one rookie team wins. The winning team gets an extra $3,000 to put toward the next round, and their counterparts get $1,500.

This season also introduces blind judging, where guest judges won’t know whose house they’re looking at.

‘Rock the Block’ Recap: Here’s Where We Stand

Season six so far has had one win by the veterans and one win by the rookies.

Veteran team Alison Victoria and Michel Smith Boyd won the first episode challenge- when teams renovated the kitchen, living room and dining room. Alison Victoria has won the kitchen challenge all three seasons that she’s competed on “Rock the Block.”

But the rookies came on strong in episode two, with Chelsea and Cole DeBoer’s decision to add a shower to the powder bath sealing a victory and $3,000 that they can use in the episode three challenge.
