“Rock the Block” season six may be in the books, but there’s still the matter of selling the four houses the designers fixed up. And now we finally know just exactly how much money it would take to own one.
We knew from the season finale, which crowned designers Alison Victoria and Michel Smith Boyd the winners, that their house appraised for $1.4million. And we know the next closest house appraised for just $35,000 less, though it wasn’t revealed which of the other three teams came in second.
We also know that the appraisals were determined by Property Brother Jonathan Scott in consultation with three independent appraisers.
But an appraisal is one thing.
A list price is another.
Thankfully, “Rock the Block’s” season six home builder, Hamlet Homes, hosted a “Rock the Block” Block Party May 30 and 31. During the block party, fans were able to tour each home, which each had flyers available on the tour.
And one of those fans posted pictures of those flyers on Reddit, showing list prices for each.
Here’s the breakdown:
Alison and Michel’s Refined Rustic house is listed for $1,399,900
Chelsea and Cole DeBoer’s Cowboy Contemporary house is also listed for $1,399,900
Tristyn and Kamohai Kalama’s Moody Modern house is listed for $1,379,900
Jonathan and Jordan Knight’s Modern Farmhouse is the lowest listing at $1,369,900
Where They Started, Where They Are Now
Season six started with four identical houses in Grantsville, Utah, just outside Salt Lake City. The houses were all initially valued at $750,000 each.
Each team started out with a budget of $250,000. As the episodes unfolded, they got one $50,000 bonus to complete the massive, one-acre back yards. Teams also won extra money when they won a challenge- typically $3,000.
Each home is listed as having 7 bedrooms and 5.5 bathrooms, plus a 3-car garage. That’s with the exception of the DeBoer’s house, where they added a full shower to their half bath during one challenge.
Previous ‘Rock the Block’ Homes Have Sold for Much More
While the nearly $1.4 million dollar price tag may seem like a lot of money, homes from previous seasons of “Rock the Block” have sold for much more.
Season five winners Lyndsay Lamb and Leslie Davis of “Unsellable Houses” redesigned a home in Treasure Island, Florida. The twins added a modern kitchen, a wine room, a media room, three laundry rooms, a pool, a whirlpool, a boat dock, and solar panels.
According to Realtor.com, the home was listed for $2,999,900. Which is $700,000 more than it appraised for in the show. What’s more, the list price was more than three times the median home price in the area, which is $837,000.
Despite all that, the home sold this past January for a whopping $2.8million.
Unlike other “Rock the Block” homes, Lyndsay and Leslie’s home was sold furnished with the pieces the twins put in the home during the show.
The season six homes are being sold unfurnished.
