Rob Lowe Argues With Drew & Jonathan Scott on ‘Celebrity IOU’ About Small Detail

Rob Lowe knows a thing or two about acting … but does he know anything about interior design? During the February 3 episode of HGTV‘s “Celebrity IOU” with Drew and Jonathan Scott, Lowe had some strong opinions about one small design element that clashed with the “Property Brothers” stars.

Rob Lowe Argues on ‘Celebrity IOU’: ‘We’re Not Doing Any of That’

Lowe appeared on the February 3 episode of “Celebrity IOU,” working on renovating the home of his former nanny and current assistant Carol.

The “9-1-1: Lone Star” actor threw his back and muscle into the demo and worked with Drew and Jonathan to make the stunning renovation a reality.

When it came to styling the home, Lowe had a very strong opinion about the placement of a throw blanket. After the show’s stars tucked a folded blanket into the sofa, Jonathan wondered if it should be gathered or straight.

Lowe asserted, “We’re not doing any of that. We’re going to fold it, and we’re going to place it on top of [the sofa].”

He added, “There’s no tucking like it’s a bed.”

Drew, quick to make a joke, said, “It’s not called a tuck [blanket], Jonathan! It’s called a throw!”

Lowe also had some opinions about “no-nos” for home design. “My thing about houses is that I’m all about the light,” he explained. “Natural light is the best. I can’t do a dark house. The no-no of no-nos is bad floor plan and flow … and not enough natural light.”

The actor noted that he enjoys “classic, timeless, and effortless” designs and nothing that will become dated over time. He explained, “something that is going to look as good now, hopefully, as it will in five to 10 years.”

Lowe stressed, “Things, first of all, have to be livable [and] comfy. I think that’s the most important — comfy, livable warmth.”

Rob Lowe Got Physical During the Episode

Lowe was a very active participant in the renovation, swinging a sledgehammer that he found much different than using a prop on his TV series.

“Look, I fake demo things on ‘9-1-1: Lone Star,'” Lowe said. “I have a sledgehammer that weighs half of what that [real sledgehammer] weighs.”

The actor continued, “And I’m like, ‘Oh, this is real! We’re really doing this.’ Swinging that sledgehammer was amazing. It was amazing! And everything’s so explosive.”

He added, “You can give somebody a gift, but to change someone’s home is next level.”
