Travel mistakes run the gamut from small “oopsies” to trip-changing blunders, and HGTV personality Nicole Curtis experienced the latter back in 2022. As she shared with People, the “Rehab Addict” star once found herself on the other side of the world without one of her most crucial belongings. “I didn’t realize until I was up in the air paying for my WiFi that I left my wallet behind,” Curtis explained.
The rehabber was on her way to Paris at the time, and her wallet-less options were very limited. “I didn’t have a credit card on me,” she said. “I had $72 [worth] of change in dollar bills stashed in my bag.” However, instead of letting this major mishap complete derail her trip, Curtis took the missing wallet as a test of perseverance, and the choices she made next shaped more than just her time in Paris.
Curtis Dug Deep Into Her Bucket List on The Trip

After a friend wired her some additional funds, Curtis said she set off on a quest to accomplish everything she wanted to in Paris. With a one-day layover before a flight to her eventual destination, Corfu, Greece, she maximized her time in the City of Light. “I put on my running shoes, I ran all the way around the Eiffel Tower,” she told People. “And I biked around the [Champs-Élysées]. I did everything I wanted to do.”
However, one of the most surprising things Curtis did in Paris was buy a house, and not just any house. The rehabber bought a Wyoming home in need of some serious TLC, setting herself up for another project when she returned to the states. “This house needed me and I needed this house,” she explained.
Fans Can Watch Her Transform The House in Season 9

The Wyoming house has become more than just a checkmark on a bucket list; it’s part of a new HGTV chapter for Curtis. “Rehab Addict” is back for a new season, and her fateful Paris purchase will feature heavily in this year’s projects. Season 9 comes after the star took a three-year hiatus from the spotlight.
Ex-boyfriend Ryan Sawtelle stepped in to help with carpentry on the project, which Curtis explained to People in a separate interview. “I didn’t know anyone in Wyoming, but I knew somebody near Wyoming, and so I gave him a call,” she shared of his involvement. We have no doubt Curtis will turn her 2022 acquisition into a masterpiece this season.
