Fans of HGTV’s hit show “Bargain Block” know Keith Bynum is head over heels for his co-star and longtime love, Evan Thomas. But beyond Thomas, who would Bynum pick as his “HGTV crush?”
That’s what one curious fan asked Bynum during a Q&A he hosted in his Instagram Stories on January 22, 2025. Filming his brief answers in a dimly-lit car, Bynum cutely responded to one who asked, “HGTV Crush? (Not Evan!)”
“It’s always been Alison Victoria,” Bynum admitted in a cartoonish voice. “As a gay, I stan her.”

HGTV / YouTubeVictoria has long been a fixture on HGTV, with shows including “Windy City Rehab,” “Battle on the Beach,” “Scariest House in America,” and the upcoming “Sin City Rehab.” She and Bynum both competed on 2023’s “Barbie Dream House Challenge” and follow each other on Instagram.
When she saw Bynum’s Instagram Story, Victoria shared it in her own Stories and added a smiley face emoji and an animated GIF that said, “Aww.”
But Victoria isn’t the only HGTV star Bynum has fawned over. Before his HGTV show debuted in 2021, he was already a big fan of multiple longtime stars on the network. He told TV Insider that he was in awe when he met “Farmhouse Fixer” and New Kids on the Block star Jonathan Knight while filming “Rock the Block” in 2022.
“Jonathan Knight, I remember when I first met him I was star struck,” Bynum recalled. “He was just so sweet and normal and made us feel welcome in that moment. I remember thinking at that moment, ‘He is so famous, and has been around for so long.’ It was nice to meet someone you can put a face and a human part to it. I love him. He is the sweetest.”
Another longtime HGTV personality Bynum was thrilled to connect with was “My Lottery Dream Home” host David Bromstad. When Bromstad interviewed Bynum and Thomas virtually for a Pride Month video in June 2022, Bynum told him that before “Bargain Block” became a reality, he was grateful to witness Bromstad, another openly gay designer, thriving on the network.
Bynum told Bromstad, “I remember watching HGTV and thinking to myself, like, ‘Oh my god.’ That opened up another door for me. I was so inspired by that, to see you in your … like, you were just living your life and you were doing your art, I loved it.”
“I’m from the South, so being gay isn’t the easiest thing a lot of times,” he continued. “So seeing that on HGTV and Discovery+ was really, it was just that moment for me … you know, I was like, ‘I can get this dream, we can. You know, I can be on HGTV just like David did!’ So, thank you for that because it really changed my life.”
Keith Bynum & Alison Victoria Have Forged Close Friendships With Fellow HGTV Stars
Both Bynum and Victoria cherish the friendships they’ve formed with fellow designers and builders working at HGTV.
“They’re my favorite people,” Victoria told Realtor.com of the many HGTV stars who’ve become close friends. “When you see those connections (onscreen), those are real friendships. Tania Nayak is one of my best friends. Ty Pennington is like my brother. David Bromstad is like my other brother. Jonathan [Knight] and I, we clicked and connected. Sarah Baeumler is one of my really close friends, and Brian (Baeumler).”
“We just really love each other and we really support each other,” she continued, “and that to me is a camaraderie that you just can’t fake.”
Bynum and Thomas have also made good friends with fellow HGTV stars, including with “Fixer to Fabulous” stars Dave and Jenny Marrs and “Unsellable Houses” stars Leslie Davis and Lyndsay Lamb, though there was a bit of drama when the sisters won 2024’s “Rock the Block” and Bynum claimed producers rigged the show.
Lamb and Davis posted multiple times while filming “Rock the Block” that they felt fortunate to be there with Bynum and Thomas, having also competed with them on the show during season 3. In one Lamb posted in late February with a photo of her and Bynum, she wrote, “So happy that I had this season three bestie on the block with me the second time around?”
