Jonathan Scott gave the latest update about planning his wedding with Zooey Deschanel. At this point, it looks like they’re enjoying a long engagement and having a good time. When is the HGTV star going to tie the knot?
Jonathan Scott Shares Latest Wedding Update
During a July 11 appearance on “Today With Jenna & Friends,” when the topic turned to wedding planning, Scott admitted, “Yes, we are the worst.”
They have a good reason for putting the wedding plans on the back burner, however. “We’ve been having so much fun,” Scott shared. “We’ve been traveling, we’ve been adventuring with the kids.”
He confirmed, “We have not planned anything yet.”
The HGTV star told Jenna Bush Hager, “Let me just say, there is an idea, a plan in our minds, and you will be the first person [to know].”
Bush Hager’s co-host, Dwyane Wade, joked about having a wedding on the “Today” show.
“And we’ll do the wedding on the Plaza when we come back. No?” Bush Hager joked.
Scott declined the offer, saying, “I would be single.”
Scott and Deschanel got engaged in August 2023 and have had to answer questions about their wedding plans ever since.
In a January 2025 interview with People, Scott shared, “I can guarantee you we have done absolutely 0% more work. We’ve just had a lot of things going on. Maybe that’ll be my New Year’s resolution — we’ve got to get this wedding figured out.”
He told People in May 2024, “We know that the most important thing for us is to be surrounded by our loved ones.”
Scott continued, “And we’re not planning to do a crazy, extravagant wedding. It’s going to be pretty intimate.”
He also noted that they would plan a second party “just for friends here locally” to attend.
Inside Their Romantic Engagement
In an April 2024 interview with Page Six, Scott shared the details of their romantic engagement.
“We were in Edinburgh Castle, and we were the last people on the property. I had it set up so they said, ‘Oh, there’s a pipe band playing. You want to go listen?’ Yeah, great,” he recalled.
Scott continued, “We went up to this beautiful bluff overlooking the city, and this pipe band is playing. And then all of a sudden, a guitar steps forward and started playing Neil Young, our song, ‘Harvest Moon.’ And she’s like, ‘Wait, what?’ And then the kids pulled up a banner that said, ‘Will you marry me?'”
“She cried and she said ‘yes.’ And I’m a blubbering mess,” the HGTV star shared. “Like the wedding is going to be a disaster because I will not be able to get through.”
