Jonathan Scott & Zooey Deschanel Welcome New Family Members

Congratulations to Jonathan Scott and Zooey Deschanel, who welcomed new members to their family in 2025 — three cats! The HGTV star gave a cute introduction to their new pets on Instagram and fans couldn’t get enough of the sweet furry faces.

Jonathan Scott Gives a Family Update

On February 21, Scott took to Instagram to share a video of their cats, writing in the caption, “Our family recently grew 😻.”

In the video, he explains, “It might be happening. I might be becoming a cat guy.”

Might?! It looks like he has fully made the move to “cat guy” based on his obvious adoration (and kisses!) for his furry family members.

Scott took a moment to give each of the cats a proper introduction, with a fun fact for each. Poppy is “the precocious one” and Pickle is “the cute and cautious one.” He noted that Dove is “the queen and she knows it.”

On January 25, Deschanel showed off the new feline family members in an Instagram post she captioned, “Cats ftw.” The photos showed the cats lounging and looking adorable.

When her “New Girl” co-star Hannah Simone commented, “You and I have been plotting this for years ❤️,” Deschanel responded, “It’s so true. Years. And I really went for it.”

Scott commented, as well, noting, “My what beautiful children we have 🥰.”‘

The cats also played a role in a February 14 Instagram video that Scott posted. For Valentine’s Day, he wrote a note asking, “Will you be my valentine?” and slid it under the door. The sound of cat noises followed — and when the note was returned to him, it appeared to be shredded by their pets.

The couple’s fans flooded the comments section of Scott’s post. One person shared the rules of having cats: “Rule number one: You don’t own a cat. They own you. Number two: They will tolerate you as long as service is good. They are beautiful!!!❤️❤️❤️”

Another fan shared, “You’ll never go wrong with these sweet babies, they become family quickly ❤️.”

One person explained how the “cat distribution system” works. “I spent my life thinking I wasn’t a cat person until the cat distribution center dropped a pair of siblings in my backyard,” they shared. “Told myself I was gonna get them healthy and find them homes … it was me. I’m their home. I’m a cat person. It’s like I found my destiny 😂.”
