Jonathan Scott Shares The Bold Move He’d Love to Make With Fiance Zoey Deschanel

Los Angeles is the heartbeat of the entertainment industry in many ways, which had led A-listers to call it home for decades. However, one HGTV star is considering leaving the bright lights of Hollywood behind. As Jonathan Scott revealed to People, filming his series, “Chasing The West,” has inspired a desire to trade city life for a quieter existence in the country.

The only potential issue? Getting fiance Zoey Deschanel to say yes to such a move. Scott said he wasn’t sure if she’d be up to the back-breaking task of helping to maintain a ranch or similar expansive property out in the country. However, her passion for horses could be a good bargaining chip. “She’s an equestrian,” he shared. “She used to jump. So she loves having horses, loves having space.”

Ranch life may be a hard sell for Deschanel, but it’s very familiar for Scott. He and twin/co-star Drew grew up on a ranch in Canada which, according to People, encompassed 160 acres. As he explained to Parade Home & Garden, his childhood was far more centered on spending time outside than on more conventional pasttimes. “We grew up on a ranch, so if we were just getting together with friends, it was never just, ‘Oh, come over to our house and play video games,'” he said.

Jonathan and his brother are clearly proud of their ranch-bound childhood, having both shared throwback photos multiple times over the years. In 2018, Drew took to Instagram with a sweet image of the pair riding a horse together when they were little boys.

Countryside views are truly breathtaking, but Scott and Deschanel have designed equally stunning digs for themselves in Los Angeles. After buying their ideal property in 2020, the two spent several years making it their own. As People reported in 2023, the couple weren’t shy about showing off the finished product, posting multiple photos of its thoughtful details and gorgeous spaces on social media.

Among the many Instagram-worthy spaces in the couple’s home is their pantry, which Scott proudly showed off in a 2022 Reel. The pantry is meticulously organized, with everything they need accessible and clearly labeled. The home also includes a drool-worthy grand staircase and plenty of multipurpose office space for Deschanel.
