HGTV stars Jonathan Scott and Drew Scott released a joint statement about those who have been affected by the ongoing Los Angeles wildfires.
In the January 21 Instagram upload, posted on the Scott brothers’ joint accounts, the “Property Brothers” stars encouraged their fans to support different organizations, like Habitat LA, Home Bank LA, LA Fire Dept. Foundation, Baby2Baby, and World Central Kitchen, that benefit individuals who have been impacted by the fires.
“It’s been a devastating past few weeks for our community and our hearts go out to victims of the LA wildfires. Thank you to all the firefighters, first responders, and volunteers working around the clock. Please join us in supporting these organizations that are helping those affected,” read a portion of the Scotts’ statement in the post’s caption.
Jonathan Scott Mentioned the LA Fires in a Different Social Media Post
On January 10, Jonathan Scott took to his Instagram account to share whether he had been impacted by the Palisades fire. He shared a picture of a fire raging along the coast.
In the caption, Scott, who lives in Brentwood, expressed gratitude “to those who have reached out.”
“I’ll be honest…it has been terrifying, saddening, and frustrating,” wrote Scott.
In addition, he shared “many of our friends and even family have lost everything” because of the ongoing wildfires.
“But we are safe. Our communities are devastated and I promise to work hard to help rebuild. Thank you to the first responders for their tireless work in fighting these fires around the clock. I’ve shared resources for anyone who needs them in my stories. Please stay safe everyone ❤,” continued Scott.
Zooey Deschanel Shared That Her Family’s Home Was Destroyed Because of the Fires
Jonathan Scott’s fiancee Zooey Deschanel revealed that her parents’ home in the Palisades was lost to the fire. In a January 18 Instagram upload, Deschanel noted that she and her sister Emily Deschanel were raised in the home, which she described as “cozy and lovely and unique and perfect to [her].”
“The Christmas dinners, Easter egg hunts, trick or treating, weddings, birthdays, baby showers… we celebrated the best moments of our lives there. The family photos that lined the hallways, the artwork, the piano I learned to play on, the wedding china, the furniture my great great grandfather built… the reminders of generations past: All have vanished into thin air,” wrote Deschanel in the post’s caption.
She also encouraged her followers to “do something for someone who has lost their home.”
“Just a text or a call? Or if you’re able to- I’d be honored if you supported the LA firefighters relief association, which supports our firefighters, and/or Baby2Baby which has been supplying underserved communities who have been affected by the fires with essentials,” wrote Deschanel.
Scott reacted to his fiancee’s post in the comments section. In his comment, he promised to help restore Deschanel’s childhood home.
“so many fond memories. Absolutely heartbreaking. Know that I will do whatever it takes to restore its original beauty to the best of my abilities. Nothing can replace the beauty and history of the original home. But it’s the best way we can honor it. ❤️,” commented Scott.
