Jonathan Knight Finally Resurfaces to Reveal Project Close to His Heart

After a busy 2024 that included a New Kids on the Block summer tour and filming multiple HGTV shows, Jonathan Knight has been noticeably quiet in 2025.

But the “Farmhouse Fixer” star finally resurfaced on social media in mid-February, revealing that he’s been in Florida with his husband, Harley Rodriquez. On Valentine’s Day, Knight uploaded the first Instagram post to his feed in over two months, revealing that he and Rodriguez had just spent a day volunteering with a nonprofit dedicated to cleaning plastic and debris from the ocean.

“Yesterday Harley and I joined up with @4ocean in Key Largo, FL,” Knight captioned a photo of half a dozen volunteers in the water. “Spent hours in the mangroves cutting nylon rope wrapped around them. Happy to report we removed almost 500lbs of waste from the ocean. Looking forward to future collaborations!🐬🐢🐠🦈”

Fans & Friends Celebrate Jonathan Knight’s Commitment to Helping the Environment

Rodriguez shared Knight’s post in his Instagram Stories and wrote, “Mangrove clean up day with this amazing organization!” He also shared a photo of the two of them smiling on the boat.

The work that Knight and Rodriguez did in Key Largo is part of 4ocean’s mission to clean up mangroves, which are trees and shrubs found in tropical and subtropical regions, per its website, that are critical to oceans by serving as “nurseries for marine species, protecting coastlines, filtering pollutants, and sequestering carbon.”

The organization has planted and cultivated over 625,000 mangroves, but says floating plastic debris regularly gets entangled in their roots, leaking toxic chemicals and stunting their growth and impact.

Fans and famous friends applauded Knight and Rodriguez for pitching in with many HGTV stars “liking” Knight’s post, including Jenny Marrs, Ty Pennington, Brian Kleinschmidt and Alison Victoria.

Sarah Baeumler of “Battle on the Beach” wrote, “YES!! You & Harley are incredible and our oceans thank you both ♥️xx”

Jen Arnold of TLC’s “Little Couple,” who appeared on “Farmhouse Fixer” in 2022, commented, “Amazing!!! I love the work @4ocean does! Amazing!!!”

Knight has grown increasingly concerned and vocal about environmental issues in recent years, especially regarding plastics. While touring with New Kids on the Block in the summer of 2024, he begged fans not to give him friendship bracelets because of the plastic beads used.

When one fan asked for further explanation, Knight wrote that he’s concerned about plastic waste winding up in “our bodies, our oceans, wildlife’s bodies, and landfill to sit for ever and ever. Plastic is not sustainable.”

HGTV Has Not Announced Plans for Jonathan Knight’s Show in 2025

On February 12, the day before his volunteer efforts, Knight gave fans a clue about his whereabouts by posting two photos in his Instagram Stories from Gardenia’s Bistro in Tavernier, Florida.

One photo was taken of him walking up to the outdoor restaurant with a hen following closely behind, and a second photo he posted was of himself holding the bird, whom the restaurant’s owners have nicknamed Auggie, in his lap.

“Lunch date at @gardeniasbistro,” Knight wrote over the first pic. “Food was incredible…staff was the best..didn’t hurt it’s located in a plant nursery with free range chickens.”

The updates to his whereabouts where a welcome sight for fans, who’ve missed seeing Knight online, on tour, and on TV. In 2024, Knight was seemingly everywhere; HGTV aired the third season of “Farmhouse Fixer” and its spinoff, “Farmhouse Fixer: Camp Revamp.” Knight also pitched in on “100 Day Hotel Challenge” in August while on the road for a U.S. tour with New Kids on the Block — attended by many of his HGTV colleagues.

But fans have been eagerly awaiting word on whether there will be a fourth season of “Farmhouse Fixer” in 2025. Knight, HGTV and the show’s production company, High Noon Entertainment, have not given an update since the third season ended.

Knight will be part of the new season of “Rock the Block,” though, competing with his brother and fellow New Kids member Jordan Knight. The brothers filmed the show in the fall of 2024, and HGTV has said it will air in the spring of 2025.
