HGTV canceled Jonathan Knight‘s “Farmhouse Fixer,” but he has a new show idea that fans would love to see. Find out what Knight thinks is the perfect show for the network. We’d totally watch it!
Jonathan Knight Wants to Put the ‘G’ Back in HGTV
Knight’s show was cut from the HGTV roster, but he’s got another fresh idea in mind for a new show on the network.
The New Kids on the Block singer shared an idea that’s near and dear to his heart that also embraces the “G” of HGTV — gardening.
In a July 2025 interview with Country Living, Knight dished on his idea for something new, yet familiar, that HGTV fans would love.
“I’ve always urged the people at HGTV to bring the garden aspect back to HGTV,” Knight explained. “They say the garden shows don’t do well, but I think if there was a really good one, it would do well.”
The “Farmhouse Fixer” star continued, “People nowadays don’t garden like they used to, but I have a few ideas I’m pitching that will be more farm-based, so we’ll see where that goes.”
He noted, “Even if it’s just a reality show tagging along with me while I do my daily chores and hopefully teach people things along the way, that would be cool.”
“I love TV shows where it’s not just drama and stupidity, but viewers come away having learned something,” Knight added.
Fans seem to be behind the idea. Knight showed a bit of his gardening talents in a May 31 Instagram post. He noted in the caption, “It’s an amazing feeling growing your own food, knowing it is fresh, pesticide free, and grown with love.”
One fan suggested, “You need an HGTV show on how to plan and build a farm/greenhouse!” and another responded, “I’d love to watch and get helpful tips.”
Another follower shared, “I would love to grow some of my own food but have no idea how to start. I wish HGTV had a little more G in their programming!”
Knight responded, “Me too!!!”
Fans Were Sad to Hear About the ‘Farmhouse Fixer’ Cancellation
On June 25, Knight took to Instagram to share the sad news that HGTV canceled “Farmhouse Fixer.“
“Having the best time doing my residency in Vegas with NKOTB. A lot of you have been asking about the future of ‘Farmhouse Fixer.’ I am sad to say HGTV has decided not to move forward with another season,” he wrote.
Knight added, “While I’m still processing the reasons that led to their decision, Kristina and I are so grateful for all your support over the past 3 seasons. Television has been so incredibly fun for us. We are so proud of what we created together and look forward to sharing what’s next for us.”
Among the comments from fans, one noted, “I am devastated. ‘Farmhouse Fixer’ was one of my favorites … Love you guys.”
Another fan wrote, “Loved every minute of watching you work your magic! Can’t wait to see where your journey leads you next!
