Joanna Gaines Is Styling Your Mother’s Day

Joanna Gaines made us all fall in love with ship lap. Now she’s renovating our ideas about how to show Mom the love this Mother’s Day.

Good Morning America’s” Lori Bergamotto went to visit Jo at her Magnolia Silos in Waco, Texas ahead of the May 14 premiere of Jo’s newest show “Mini Reni.”

And while she was there, Joanna introduced her to one of the Silos’ newest features- the Herbarium. What used to be a storage shed for inventory has been transformed into a delightful and whimsical workshop where Joanna and guests can arrange and press flowers, among other things.

Jo says she kept the design of the Herbarium simple intentionally, and suggests using the same strategy when it comes to Mother’s Day gifts.

Joanna Says the Perfect Mother’s Day Gift is In the Garden.. or at the Grocery Store

Gaines says flowers from the garden, wildflowers, or even a bouquet from your grocer’s floral section, can be turned into a wonderful, thoughtful gift for Mom.

Joanna showed Lori how to press seasonal blooms using old picture frames… either to display around the house or to tuck inside a handwritten note. “I’ve got five kiddos.. to me, my favorite gift, whether it’s just a stem, or a bouquet of flowers or a note, it’s something that simple that, I think, goes a long way.”

Keeping It Simple Is the Theme of Jo’s New Show

“Mini Reni” goes for maximum impact with minimal disruption. In the show, Jo transforms spaces in a week.

“What I love about ‘Mini Reni’ is the freedom to go all-in on just one or two smaller spaces. These aren’t whole-house renovations. So the heart behind the show is to inspire people to design their home gradually, and thoughtfully. So that instead of having to wrap your mind around the million details that go into a bigger renovation, you can enjoy the process of creating beauty by narrowing in, flexing your creativity, and embracing the small details that really tell your story,” she explained.

And to find out what her clients want, she asks them for three words. “The first thing I always like to do is ask my client, what are their three words? Because for me, if I can take those three words, then I can really start to hone in on color choices, texture, style,” she explained.

How to Watch ‘Mini Reni’

“Mini Reni” premieres Wednesday, May 14 at 8:00p.m. on Magnolia Network, with new episodes debuting each Wednesday after that.
