Since news broke in early 2024 that designer Jeremiah Brent would join Netflix’s “Queer Eye” cast amid longtime cast member Bobby Berk’s departure, HGTV fans have hoped it wouldn’t keep him from continuing his show with husband Nate Berkus.
But based on Brent’s comments to Us Weekly on February 22, 2025, the likelihood of their series returning is not high.
“I don’t know, we did it for so long,” Brent, 46, told the outlet, laughing, “I need a break, I see him every day!”
“I mean, I would do anything with him,” Brent continued. “But to be honest with you, doing this show, ‘Queer Eye,’ has changed my life.”
Jeremiah Brent & Nate Berkus Have Starred in 3 Reality Shows Together
Brent and Berkus, who rose to fame as a frequent guest on “The Oprah Winfrey Show,” have been married since 2014 and share two kids — daughter Poppy, 9 and son Oskar, 6.
While running their design businesses, Brent and Berkus have starred in three reality shows. From 2017 to 2019, their TLC show “Nate & Jeremiah By Design” aired for three seasons. In 2020, they moved over to HGTV with “Nate & Jeremiah: Save My House,” produced by Drew and Jonathan Scott’s entertainment company.
In the fall of 2021, “The Nate & Jeremiah Home Project,” another Scott Brothers Entertainment production, premiered on HGTV with over 13 million viewers tuning in during the first season, according to a press release. The show’s second season premiered in February 2023.
But word of a third season never came. By early 2024, rumors were swirling that Brent would soon replace Bobby Berk following his decision to leave “Queer Eye.” In late February 2024, Netflix confirmed Brent had been cast on the show for its ninth season.
Why Jeremiah Brent Says Joining ‘Queer Eye’ Has Had a ‘Huge Impact’ On Him
When the new season premiered in December, Brent made his debut as the show’s new design expert alongside the show’s longtime cast members — culinary expert Antoni Porowski, therapist Karamo Brown, stylist Tan France, and grooming guru Jonathan van Ness.
Brent is expected to continue to be part of the “Queer Eye” cast for season 10, though he told “Green Matters” that the next season won’t take place in Las Vegas like his debut season did.
Fortunately, it sounds like Berkus is thrilled for his husband’s success on the Netflix show.
In a December 10 appearance on Bravo’s “Watch What Happens Live”, Brent said, “Nate was super sweet, in that he said, ‘This show is exactly what you should be doing. Great people, it’s about the right things at the right time, which you know.’ He’s always the most supportive.”
During his February 22 interview with Us Weekly, Brent said joining the show “has changed me,” saying that he thinks it may have impacted him even more than the people who received life makeovers on season 9.
“It’s changed who I am as a father and as a husband, as a member of the queer community,” he said. “It’s made a huge impact on me, more than I could have possibly wanted it to give to the people we met. So, I’m happy doing this right now.”
Brent is part of “Queer Eye” cast’s “Fab Five Live” tour, with remaining shows scheduled on February 23 in Chicago, February 24 in Washington, DC and March 12 in Los Angeles.
