One of the countless homes destroyed in wildfires that swept through Los Angeles beginning on January 7, 2025, belonged to designer Jeremiah Brent’s best friend, Libby Bush, whom the HGTV alum called “my person” in an emotional Instagram post.
Brent, who starred with his husband Nate Berkus on two seasons of HGTV’s “Nate & Jeremiah,” posted a stunning video taken of Bush’s completely demolished home on January 9 and shared how “heartbroken” he was over the situation and everyone who’s been displaced by the fires.
“This is the exact driveway I walked up to hundreds of times only to throw myself into the arms of my best friend, my other half,” Brent captioned a video of the charred remains of Bush’s home, adding, “My person, @libbybush1.”
Bush is the Global Head of Media and Entertainment Partnerships at talent agency CAA, per LinkedIn, and has been close with Brent for well over a decade, based on Instagram posts he’s shared, including at her 2013 wedding.
In a Facebook post by Bush for Brent’s 40th birthday in November, she wrote, “Too many memories and moments to choose from and countless belly laughs wrapped in each one. I love you and I am forever grateful for this friendship. Here’s the next 20 together”
In Brent’s January 9 post, Brent mourned the loss of Bush’s home by sharing, “These were the four walls that housed laughter, joy, long hilarious dinner parties, reunions, survived loss, hope, babies, memories and warmth. I’m so heartbroken for my dearest friends and so many other people that I know and love who have lost so much.”
Jeremiah Brent Seeks Support, Resources & Hope in Aftermath of Historic Wildfires
Brent, who made his debut as the newest member of Netflix’s “Queer Eye” cast in December, used his post to call for unity and support in the wake of so much devastation in LA, where CNN reported that “thousands of structures” have been demolished.
“This platform is complicated but I know and I BELIEVE it can be a place of warmth, hope, and connection,” Brent wrote. “Our friends and families and those we don’t even know yet…need us more than ever.”
The 40-year-old interior designer continued, “They need our support. They need our resources. They need our HOPE.”
“Home is not the 4 walls that hold us,” Brent added, “it’s the people we hold within them. We can rebuild the places and spaces but right now…we have to remind everyone who has lost so much…You are not alone. You are loved. We will help you through this.”
Brent also included a slide in his post with a list and links to organizations that need financial support to help following the wildfires including the American Red Cross, Baby2Baby, World Central Kitchen, and the LA Fire Department.
Thousands of Jeremiah Brent’s Followers Have Rallied Around His Vulnerable Post

Less than an hour after Brent posted, over 12,000 people had already liked it, including HGTV stars Brian Kleinschmidt of “100 Day Dream Home,” Eilyn Jimenez from “Divided by Design,” and James Bender from “Christina on the Coast.”
Hundreds of followers also wrote messages of sympathy and support, including one who commented, “So glad you’re safe. ❤️ But wow. This is devastating. 💔”
Another wrote, “i’m so sorry you and and the city of LA are going through this, thankful you and your family are safe ❤️”
According to the LA Times, nearly 28,000 acres of land have been burned in the wildfires and firefighters were still trying to contain the fires midday on January 9, hoping that as wind speeds decrease, they will become much easier to put out.
