Jenny Marrs shared her recent family adventure with fans on social media. While the weather didn’t cooperate, the HGTV star later reflected on the memories she and her twin boys had on the trip.
Jenny Marrs Travels With Her Teen Boys
Marrs kept her fans in the loop about her travels with her twins Nathan and Ben, as she was lucky enough to accompany them to an out-of-town track meet. The weather proved challenging, but the trip was a success for the family, as they created some new memories together.
On May 8, Marrs took to Instagram to share videos and photos from their travels.
“I was so thankful we weren’t filming this week because the boys qualified for the high school state track championship (🎉) and there wasn’t a chance I would miss cheering them on,” she explained. “The three of us drove five hours to a small town in southern Arkansas on Monday in preparation for an early morning start time on Tuesday.”
The HGTV star continued, “Ben competed in his triple jump event (12th in the state in our conference as a freshman! I’m so proud of him! ☺️) and, shortly after, it began to rain. And rain. And rain. And rain. We killed time in the car, at a coffee shop, antique shopping, at Walmart and driving around the small town … waiting for the rain and lightning to stop.”
The weather put a damper on the event, as she reported that “finally, at 7 pm, they called it” because the track had flooded. The event was rescheduled, but the timing didn’t work for her son’s team. “We later found out that the meet would be moved to next week and, because of finals, Nate’s relay partners wouldn’t be able to attend,” she wrote. “So, Nate won’t get to compete this year.”
All of the disappointments aside, Marrs shared that the journey wasn’t a total loss.
“Regardless of the bad weather and crummy news about Nate’s events, we had the best couple of days together,” she shared. “On the drive home, we stopped at a trailhead and hiked and laughed and talked about all-the-things.”
HGTV Star Shares Moment That Made Her ‘Teary’
Marrs admitted that, even though they had a good time, she got emotional at one point.
“Cory Asbury’s song ‘These are the Days’ came on the radio as I drove and I got so teary,” Marrs noted. “Even though I miss these two being my little sidekicks, it has been the most fun watching them grow up. I loved this time together and the funny, thoughtful, kind, sarcastic, witty, and generous young men they are.”
Marrs noted that this “rain-soaked track adventure” deserved a place in her Instagram, even though it wasn’t perfect.
She also offered up some hopeful words for other moms: “And, an encouragement to all the mommas in the thick of the little years: don’t be scared about the teen years. They’re surprising in the best way.”
