Jenny Marrs Responds to Fan Criticism About HGTV Show

Jenny Marrs is clearing up one fan’s small complaint about an HGTV “Fixer to Fabulous” episode, and reminding viewers that the focus is always on the homeowner. Marrs and her husband Dave listen to what the homeowners want — plus, there’s only so much that can be included in each episode.

On a February 5 Instagram post featuring a “Fixer to Fabulous” home renovation, Marrs responded to a comment about the enclosed sunroom for the homeowners’ cats that they called a “catio.”

A fan noted, “A catio is a screened enclosure that lets cats experience outside while being protected. The lovely room that you built really isn’t a catio.”

Marrs explained, “It was what Holly and Chris requested. Not a full Catio but a hybrid so that it’s considered square footage to increase the value of their home long term.”

She further shared in her Instagram Stories, “Seeing some questions about the Catio. It was requested to be a hybrid Catio/Sunroom for long-term real estate value and for both the cats and the humans to enjoy.”

Marrs also made an important point about the HGTV show — there just isn’t enough time to include all of the discussions and planning that happen with home renovations.

“Remember: the episodes are only 42 minutes long,” the HGTV star wrote. “The conversations and planning that takes place cannot all be included or each episode would span an entire season.”

She added, “Just always assume what we do is ALWAYS based on what the homeowners ask for — it’s their home and we want them to be happy in it!”

‘Fixer to Fabulous’ Homeowner Raves About New Catio

The homeowner also provided their perspective about their pet-friendly renovation request. In a February 5 Instagram post, the Paws of Oz pet rescue account shared photos of the amazing space.

“The catio! Sure, it’s not all screens, but that’s what I wanted/needed!” the caption shared. “We had no practical spot to put Beauty’s cage and I also need a foster area. So making it all weather was my specification so I could use it year round.”

They added, “@daveandjennymarrs gave us a great space that I’m still having fun making my own! It’ll be an ever evolving area as things get added, ruined, moved, etc! At times I’ll walk in and find all 5 cats just chilling! It’s our sanctuary.”
