Jenny Marrs and her family continue to work through the sad loss of their dog Dolly and navigate the roller coaster of grief. The HGTV star shared her insight about seasons of joy and sorrow — and how they sometimes overlap.
Jenny Marrs Reflects on Seasons of Joy & Sorrow
On August 4, Marrs took to Instagram to share the highs and lows of seeing her friend Kimberly Schlapman from Little Big Town. Unfortunately, the visit and concert coincided with the loss of the Marrs’ beloved pet.
“The afternoon my friend @ohgussie came to town was supposed to be a fun chance to catch up unhurriedly before her show that night. Instead, it was the hardest day as our family had to unexpectedly say goodbye to our Dolly,” Marrs shared in the caption.
She continued, “With our sad hearts, we went that night and cheered on our friend up there on stage, using her gifts to entertain and uplift. Before the show, we had a chance for a big hug and as I walked over, I saw the beautiful art her sweet girls created on the sidewalk. Yes, her daughter is named Dolly and this was written about her but, gracious it felt like a God wink.”
Marrs found the moment impactful. “I say it all the time: life is comprised of seasons of joy and seasons of sorrow and, often, they overlap and catch us off guard,” she wrote. “The key is learning to embrace the joy even in the midst of sorrow.”
She noted, “I’m also thankful I got to hug Kimberly and thank in person for being so kind to take the time to read my new book and to share her thoughts for the back cover. Her words mean so much to me as I prepare to release this book baby out into the world. (Oct 7th is coming so soon!) Thank you so much, sweet friend!”
Marrs added, “If @littlebigtown is coming to your town on their summer tour, go see them! It’s such a fun show!!”
Dave & Jenny Marrs Shared the News of Their Dog’s Passing
Both Marrs and her husband Dave shared tributes to Dolly on Instagram, celebrating the life of their sweet four-legged family member.
On July 24, Dave shared a post about their dog’s passing, writing, “Today we had to say goodbye to our sweet Dolly. She’s been my little sidekick since we rescued her 10 years ago.”
He continued, “She never missed a moment to lay in the shop when I was working; never missed a moment to snuggle up when we had a hard day; never missed one of the kids made up plays, or snow days; she just never missed anything. She was always there. She has graced us with so much joy over the last ten years.”
The HGTV star added, “I’m going to miss her so so much. Love you Dolly girl.”
