HGTV stars Dave and Jenny Marrs loves to reminisce on past family memories. In a December 10 Instagram post, Jenny shared clips from and old home video she found featuring her Grandmother, Shirley.
“The other night, we found a [VCR player] and watched old VHS tapes from Christmases past. We unexpectedly happened upon a Christmas Eve at Grandma’s house. Hearing her voice again was a gift that immediately brought tears to my eyes. I have missed her so much,” Jenny wrote in her caption.
She went on to share a message for other mothers out there, writing “Mommas (and Grandmas) – we are typically the ones behind the camera. Let’s all learn a lesson from this VHS: be IN the photos and videos. Someday, they’ll be a treasure for the ones who love you most 🤍.”
Jenny Marrs Remembers Her Late Grandmother, Shirley
Jenny’s home videos showed her grandmother walking around the family’s home while decorated for the holidays. The Christmas Eve home video showed Jenny and her family members singing “Happy Birthday”, which Jenny explained was sung for Jesus as a part of their Christmas celebration. Grandma Shirley was sporting a red dress and apron in the home videos, helping organize presents under the tree.
In her post’s caption, Jenny wrote more about her grandmother, sharing, “She taught me the importance of dance parties and praise songs. She could shake away any dark cloud with her infectious laughter and her cheesy scrambled eggs were the ultimate comfort food on a hard day. Everyone who knew her, loved her. She had a deep well of joy that was poured out consistently and without hesitation.”
Jenny expanded on the importance of family in her caption, adding, “If my life were a house, I can look back on the people who worked day in and day out to ensure the foundation was sturdy and strong. The ones who rolled up their sleeves and carried in brick after brick, stone after stone.”
Jenny Marrs an Old Family Recipe for Thanksgiving Dinner
Jenny has been remembering late family members throughout the holiday season. As she shared in a Thanksgiving 2024 post on November 28, she had been using an old family recipe for the dinner rolls at Thanksgiving dinner.
“I’m grateful today for Grandmas who are no longer here physically but who’s time on this earth was so full that we can’t get through the handwritten dinner roll recipe without tears. The simplest things truly are the big things,” Jenny wrote in her caption. It is unclear if the recipe was passed down from Grandma Shirley or another grandmother of Jenny’s (or Dave’s, who she tagged in the post).
