Jenny Marrs is celebrating Valentine’s Day with her family and has the sweetest way to share love on the holiday. The HGTV star explained her family’s Valentine’s Day tradition — and it’s so cute and easy!
Jenny Marrs Said They Started the Valentine’s Day Tradition a Few Years Ago
In a February 14 Instagram post, Marrs shared a photo of jars with their names on them and explained how their easy but meaningful Valentine’s Day tradition works.
“Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite days of the year because of this tradition we started a few years ago. I set out a stack of notecards and a jar for each person in our family and we all take some time before dinner to write to one another,” she explained in the caption.
Marrs continued, “Then, we have dinner together as a family and, as we sit around the table, we take turns reading the words of encouragement, humor and love written about us out loud.”
The HGTV star added, “This is the simplest thing and is one of my absolute favorite nights of the year. I wanted to share because I think tonight’s the perfect night to tell the people you care most about just how special they are. Words hold so much power. Maybe you can start a new tradition too. 💕.”
Jenny Marrs Shared a Throwback Valentine’s Day Memory With Husband Dave
Marrs also took to her Instagram Stories on February 14 to share a throwback Instagram post from 2021 that summed up a less-than-romantic Valentine’s Day. It turns out, not much has changed.
In the post, Marrs shared that they were hard at work doing chores on that February 14 years ago and they still have those responsibilities in the mix. She wrote “Still true today, @dave.marrs.”
“We spent this Valentine’s morning breaking ice, scooping poo, covering holes on the sheep barn and building a fort of hay for protection against the wind for the animals who stubbornly want to sit right outside the barn’s open door,” she wrote in 2021.
Marrs continued, “If ever my kids need an example of what a servant’s heart looks like or how to love well, they simply need to look to their daddy. He knows how much these four legged friends mean to me and how uncharacteristically cold it is here on the farm. Without complaint, he passed me his heated gloves and let me borrow his waterproof jacket and snow pants as we headed out together to work in the pasture.”
The “Fixer to Fabulous” star pointed out how these moments speak volumes. “It’s in these mundane, real life, no-one’s-looking moments that he best walks out the words we committed to one another all those years ago,” she noted.
Marrs added, “You’re a keeper, @dave.marrs. I couldn’t imagine a better Valentine in all the world.”
