HGTV star Jasmine Roth just had a baby AND moved her family to another state! So why in the world would she jump at the chance to be a guest judge on “Rock the Block” just five weeks after giving birth?
Turns out, it wasn’t a hard decision to make.
Jasmine says first of all she’s a huge “Rock the Block” fan, so missing out on being a part of season six was not an option.
And second, she just happens to have moved from California to Utah, where this season of “Rock the Block” is being filmed.
Third, her judging partner made it a no brainer.
In an Instagram post showing Jasmine and fellow judge Mina Starsiak Hawk, Jasmine writes, “You guys – I just double checked – but this was me 5 weeks after I had Darla!
When I heard that @hgtv’s Rock the Block was right in my new backyard (Season 6 is in Salt Lake City, UT) and that I could work with @mina_starsiak_hawk again, I couldn’t stay away.”
Jasmine Roth Says Being a Judge On ‘RTB’ Helped Her Get Back in the Swing
The “Help! I Wrecked My House!” host says her “Rock the Block” assignment actually helped her get out of a postpartum funk.
In the same Instagram post, which Jasmine put up the night her “Rock the Block” episode premiered April 21, she writes, “all of you new parents can probably relate that sometimes it’s that first little outing back to work that helps you feel human again, but also makes you really appreciate how necessary maternity leave is. I was pumping milk, feeling weepy, figuring what clothes would fit, eating everything, and wondering if I was going to sneeze and pee my pants…all while trying to do my job. I remember looking at pics of Darla on my phone and wondering if she was missing me. 🥹
Fast forward and tonight baby Darla gets to watch her mom on tv for the first time. Yay! Not sure she’ll totally understand what’s happening, but I like to think she’ll be proud. I know Hazel will be!”
Jasmine Roth’s “Rock the Block” History
Of course, Jasmine Roth’s “Rock the Block” connection runs deep.
Jasmine was the competition show’s very first winner in season one.
The home she designed in Santa Clarita, California appraised for $1.02 million, beating out fellow competitors and HGTV stars Leanne Ford of “Restored by the Fords,” Mina Starsiak Hawk of “Good Bones” and Alison Victoria of “Windy City Rehab.”
At the time of her victory, Roth told HGTV.com, “My strategy during this entire competition was to save money on the master suite and kitchen so that I could spend big on the rest of the house. Even after installing the pool, I had a lot of money left over so I could go all out, earn the highest appraisal and win this thing.”
