Jasmine Roth is letting fans tag along on her family’s epic vacation in Paris, posting pictures and videos every step of the way.
The HGTV star has chronicled the family’s trip on Instagram from packing, navigating the airport and now their adventures in the City of Light.
And that has some fans questioning why you would take a 5-year-old and an 11-month-old along on a transatlantic trip.
But in her trademark transparent style, Jasmine has an answer for that.
In a new Instagram post from Paris, Jasmine captions a video of her older daughter Hazel going through a Paris Metro subway turnstile “It’s not worth it… More in caption…”
In the caption, Jasmine explains why she and husband Brett decided to make their European adventure a family affair.
She writes, “I’ve heard people say “it’s not worth it to travel with kids when they’re small because they won’t remember” and while I think that’s one way to look at it – I respectfully disagree. Yes, they won’t remember the trip, but somewhere in there every experience is shaping them. I believe that some of the greatest qualities we can bring into our adult lives are curiosity, resilience, and a love for exploration…and while we can certainly foster these things at home, travel feels like a crash course. So yeah, on some trips (and yes there are some they will NOT be coming on because mama needs a break too 😅) you’ll see us rolling deep with the whole family and while it might not always be the easy option, we believe it’s worth it.”
Jasmine Roth’s Family Is Traveling With Her Cousin & Her Family
In a series of posts on Instagram about the Paris trip so far, Jasmine Roth reveals that her family is traveling with her cousin, her cousin’s husband and their two daughters.
In a picture of the nine of them sitting at an outdoor cafe in Paris, Jasmine explains that her cousin’s family met them in Paris. She writes, “They live in Florida and we try to see each other a couple of times a year at least.”
Jasmine admits in that same post that their “day one” itinerary may have been “a little too ambitious.” But later posts show that the families are getting the most out of the trip.
Jasmine Roth’s Family Learns the Art of French Pastry
One post shows the entire crew taking a French pastry class at Maison Fleuret Baking School.
In the video, Hazel admonishes the “Help! I Wrecked My House” star, “Mama, don’t forget about your flour!”
The family learns how to make croissants and other pastries. One clip shows Hazel stealing wayward chocolate chips as they assemble the goodies.
While 11-month-old Darla doesn’t take part in the baking, she’s enthusiastic about eating the pastries once they cool.
Jasmine gets real about the instruction in the caption, writing, “Who wants a 🥐🥐🥐!? Really fun to learn, but I think we’ll leave it to the pros. 😅”
Jasmine Roth Schedules Adults Only Time on Trip
While Jasmine Roth is getting in plenty of family time on her Paris vacation, the designer is also clear that she’s planned ahead to get the most out of the trip.
Jasmine even posted her “day one” itinerary in a carousel of photos on Instagram. It shows a full day of sight-seeing, including a tour of the Eiffel Tower. But the families returned to their “Paris La Treve” apartment-style hotel at 5:00pm. There the little girls took showers, ordered room service and settled in for the night with Jasmine Roth’s nanny Alexis.
Then Jasmine, husband Brett and Jasmine’s cousin and husband hit the town. The itinerary indicates plans to check out a cafe and the Ritz Hemingway Bar.
Day Two Featured a Quick Change of Plans
Jasmine Roth revealed that on the family’s second day in Paris, her carefully planned itinerary got turned upside when their tickets to the Louvre museum were cancelled at the last minute.
The designer took it in stride. The families instead rented bicycles and toured the city with pedal power, saying the kids were probably too young to appreciate the Louvre anyway.
Once again, the kids had and early night back at the hotel with the nanny while the grownups sampled famous french cuisine at the restaurant Margaux.
Jasmine even posted a picture of a plate of escargot – with the caption “IYKYK.”
