‘Home Town’ Alert: HGTV Alters Schedule on Super Bowl Sunday

Many fans of HGTV’s hit series “Home Town” may be disappointed to find that there’s not a new episode airing on February 9, 2025. With 119 million people expected to tune into Super Bowl LIX,  per US News and World Report, the network has opted to air only reruns on game night.

“Home Town” star Erin Napier alerted fans to the change in an Instagram post, writing, “No new #HGTVHomeTown tonight, there’s a football game on. See you next week!”

‘Home Town’ Fans Express Disappointment Over Schedule Change

Many fans used the comment section of Napier’s post to cheer on the team they hope to win the Super Bowl LIX matchup between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles. The post was amusingly filled with “Go Birds” and “Go Chiefs” comments.

But plenty of others expressed their disappointment over not getting to see a new episode of “Home Town,” which is in the midst of its eighth season.

“My husband were lamenting last night that there would probably (understandably) no Home Town tonight,” one fan wrote. “It’s not always fun to be right! ♥️”

“I don’t watch the Superbowl,” another commented. “I’m bummed no Hometown.”

Many fans noted that they’ll watch reruns of the show instead, including one who wrote, “Oh that stinks. Not watching football, will have to watch a previous season and episode of yours. Much better in my opinion.”

What’s Airing on HGTV on Super Bowl Sunday?

The Super Bowl kicks off at 6:30 p.m. Eastern time, with lots of pre-show festivities airing on FOX beforehand.

For those who prefer to watch reruns of two of HGTV’s top shows, there’s a “My Lottery Dream Home” marathon airing from noon to 6 p.m. Eastern time, per HGTV’s published schedule. Then, four back-to-back episodes of “Home Town will air, all from the current season. Here’s a rundown of which episodes will air:

6 p.m. Eastern time: “Cozy-Phobic” — “A couple purchased her great grandmother’s large property and small house with plans to turn it into a Christmas tree farm. Ben and Erin need to tear down every wall in the house to reno the cramped and quirky rambler into a cheery, functional home.”

7 p.m. Eastern time: “When Life Gives You Tomatoes” — “When a couple loses out on a few homes, Ben and Erin hope that plan B is plan better. With a budding food business that requires a specialty garden on the property, the Napiers face a time crunch to create a home that delivers from the inside out.”

8 p.m. Eastern time: “Unlimited Dreams” –– “A doctor with a mission to help children started a learning center for underserved kids, and now it’s bursting out of its current location. Ben and Erin help her find, design and retrofit a larger house to create the coziest school imaginable.”

9 p.m. Eastern time: “There’s No Place Like Home” — “When a couple’s must-have list keeps growing, Ben and Erin must go back to the drawing board. They present two homes that have plenty of potential, and for the first time, it includes a property they previously renovated for another couple.
