Forget LIST IT, it was nothing but LOVE for HGTV’s biggest stars this Valentine’s Day. Romance was in the air, and on their social media accounts, as America’s handiest home designers put down their hammers and nailed a little romance for their Valentine’s.
Here’s the love rundown:
Home Town is Where the Heart Is: Ben Napier Says it With Salad
“Home Town’s” Erin Napier posted this picture of husband Ben on Instagram with the caption, “don’t talk to me about having the best valentine unless he brought you a very good salad to the hair salon since you were there during lunch, then sat with you and visited until you were done just because he had some time in the middle of the day. thank you @scotsman.co 😍😍😍”
Fixer to Fabulous Family Tradition
Jenny Marrs makes Valentine’s Day a family affair rather than just one focused on romance. In an Instagram post, she explains, “Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite days of the year because of this tradition we started a few years ago. I set out a stack of notecards and a jar for each person in our family and we all take some time before dinner to write to one another. Then, we have dinner together as a family and, as we sit around the table, we take turns reading the words of encouragement, humor and love written about us out loud.
This is the simplest thing and is one of my absolute favorite nights of the year. It’s not fancy or curated to be “instagram-photo-worthy”, it’s just a real way to love my people well.
I wanted to share because I think tonight’s the perfect night to tell the people you care most about just how special they are. Words hold so much power. Maybe you can start a new tradition too. 💕”
Joanna Gaines Fixes Up Festivities for Valentines, but Chip Has His Own Surprise
Joana Gaines posted a video on Instagram showing her farmhouse decked out for Cupid’s visit with the caption “‘Twas the night before Valentine’s.” The table appears to be filled with Valentine goodies for her kids.
Meanwhile, Chip Gaines decided to go big in declaring his love for his wife and “Fixer Upper” partner. And what better canvas to express himself on than one of the silos that are part of the Magnolia compound? Joanna shared Chip’s graffiti love note on the side of one the iconic silos in Waco, Texas. It read, “Chip ❤️’s Jo.” Joanna captioned the video, “Love you too, @chipgaines ❤️”
Chip also posted a more close-up picture of his artistic Valentine, with the caption, “Happy valentine’s day joey.”
Chip also showed Joanna the love back home. Joanna posted a video of her farmhouse filled with bouquets of roses. She explained, “Chip and I celebrated our first Valentine’s Day together in 2001, and I’ll never forget the bouquet of flowers he got me. In the 24 years since, his goal is always to “one up” the year before. Even though I tell him a tiny bouquet is enough, he won’t listen, and every year I am reminded again that this man is extravagant and he loves to fill our home with more roses than I can count. Happy Valentine’s Day, Chip. I sure do love you 🤍”
Brotherly Love: Property Brothers Get Romantic With Valentines
Property Brother Drew Scott took to Instagram to express his love for his Valentine, wife Linda Phan. “Another #ValentinesDay, another year of me being the luckiest. Love you, Lindy! ❤️” he wrote.
While brother Jonathan got a little goofier with his old school Valentine for fiancée Zoey Deschanel. He put up an Instagram video of himself writing a note to his sweetheart asking “Zooey, will you be my Valentine?” with boxes for her to check “yes” or “yes.” After he slides it under the door, there’s some commotion that sounds like cats, and then the now-shredded note is returned under the door with both “yes” boxes checked. To which Jonathan comments, “I’ll take a yes any way I can get it, @zooeydeschanel 😻”
Zooey, on the other hand, went for a more sophisticated vibe with her Valentine’s Day Instagram post. She posted a photo of herself and Jonathan all dressed up, perhaps headed to a romantic dinner out, with the caption, “I got the best one!!!
Happy Valentine’s Day to my dreamboat @jonathanscott who is practically perfect in every way. 😍”
Tarek El Moussa’s Love Letter to the One He Flipped For
“The Flip Off’s” Tarek El Moussa may be doing a show with both his current and his ex-wife. But he knows who his Valentine is. El Moussa posted a series of pictures of himself and wife Heather, starting with the pair all dressed up holding bright orange wine glasses, several pictures with their children and ending with a photo from their wedding. In the post, El Moussa writes, “6 Valentine’s together…. Happy Valentine’s Day to my ride or die, my biggest supporter, and my bestie. So proud of everything we’ve built together. Raising the kids together is our greatest joy & they’ll always be our forever Valentines. ❤️”
Meanwhile, wife Heather Rae El Moussa’s Instagram was full of kisses, but hers were focused on her new lip gloss rather than her husband. Heather writes, “Not everything has to be toxic….💋💄
My clean, vegan and cruelty free Lippie Gloss Angel Kisses JUST DROPPED —shop at the link in my bio!
Don’t miss out ❤️”
Tarek’s ex-wife Christina even appears in the post, grabbing Heather’s dropped lip gloss, trying it out, and then thanking her for it.. sort of.
In another Valentine’s Day post, Heather is seen writing a love letter, but again the recipient isn’t Tarek but fans of her new lip gloss.
Jasmine Roth’s Cheesy Valentine’s Post
Jasmine Roth posted adorable pictures of her young daughters and explained the family’s “cheesy” Valentine’s tradition in her Instagram post. She writes, “❤️❤️❤️ If you’ve been around here for a while, you know cheese fondue is our Valentine’s tradition. Over the years we’ve upgraded our fondue recipe, what we dip in the cheese (crowd favorite is filet and this year we tried mini pickles) and we even brought a new pot home from vacation in Switzerland. This year, we decide to share the love and make it a family affair because let’s be honest, we’ll have years and years to sip champagne alone by a fire…they’re only little once. 🥹🫕😍”
“Married to Real Estate” Couple Is Feeling the Love
“Married to Real Estate’s” Egypt Sherrod posted a glamorous picture of herself and husband Mike Jackson in formal wear to her Instagram account, with the caption, “Once you find the ONE, you understand why all the others didn’t work out. It was always YOU….. Happy Lovers Day ❤️”
Jackson returned the love in his own Instagram post, saying “Not that we needed a specific day to show our love for each other, but it doesn’t hurt to add an extra little loving on top. ‘Every Love story is beautiful, but ours is my favorite.’”
