HGTV’s Jenny Marrs Defends Using Trendy Color After Fan Asks ‘Can We Move On?’

HGTV star Jenny Marrs is standing behind her use of the color green in many of the home renovations seen on “Fixer to Fabulous.” See her response to one critical fan who asked, “Can we move on” from green.

Jenny Marrs’ Response to Fan Criticism: ‘Nope’

On March 7, Marrs took to social media to answer some fan questions and shared the paint color seen on an episode of the HGTV show.

On her Facebook Q&A post, one fan commented, “Love what you and Dave do, but can we move on from the color green?”

Marrs stood her ground and made a case for why it’s such a commonly used color in her designs. “Nope. Homeowners give me their color preferences and I always work with what they ask for and green is on 99% of their lists!” she explained.

Marrs added, “It’s a soothing color inspired by nature and the most versatile color there is. It can be neutral or bold or moody or modern or traditional … the list is unending. It’s the absolute best color in the color wheel in my humble opinion. I’ll never not use it.”

One fan applauded Marrs’ response. “I love your use of green in your designs. God knew what he was doing with green,” they wrote. “Regardless of color, every flower has a green stem and green leaves. Every tree that has blooms has green leaves. Green is truly the best color to use in design. God got it right, and you have too!”

Another commenter noted, “It used to be grey, now it’s green … that movement has been going on for decades.”

In a September 2023 interview with Homes & Gardens, Marrs explained why green is a “go-to color” in many of her designs.

“I love decorating with green: muted greens and deep greens, beige greens and mossy greens. I use this color a lot,” Marrs shared.

She continued, “As we all know, green is the color of nature, and I love bringing the outside in. I often incorporate plants, flowers, and cuttings from the tree to bring life inside the house, and green offers a similar energy. It’s my go-to color that I use often.”

The HGTV star shared that one way to incorporate the color is to paint the walls green and the ceiling trim white. “Or, for a more moody feel, go bold and paint everything green,” she said. “It just depends on the feeling you want to create.”

Marrs added, “Paint really is one of those inexpensive ways to completely transform a space.”
