HGTV’s Most Popular Shows By State Include Some Surprises

When it comes to HGTV shows, every state has its favorite.

But new research reveals that for some states, their favorite show is one that won’t be returning for a new season!

The new study conducted by Deed Street Capital breaks down the viewing patterns of fans state by state and finds that some states are hooked on shows that have been caught in the network’s recent flurry of cancellations.

But thanks to streaming, fans can continue to watch what they want. In fact, some states continue to cling to shows (like “Fixer Upper”) that haven’t filmed new episodes in years. And yet they remain at the top of the watch list.

But for four states, the latest cancellations may force fans to find a new fave after they’ve binge-watched every episode of these now-defunct series. Still, in every case, there’s plenty of good news.

California Residents Will Miss the El Moussas

Deed Street Capital’s analysis of Google Trends shows that California residents will miss the El Moussas.

“The Flipping El Moussas” ranks as the favorite show in the Golden State.

But HGTV recently announced the cancellation of the show after just two seasons. But good news, fans of Tarek and Heather Rae El Moussa will still get to see them on season two of “The Flip Off,” which also stars Tarek El Moussa’s ex-wife Christina Haack.

Haack’s California-focused “Christina on the Coast” was also cancelled by the network.

The fate of Tarek El Moussa’s “Flipping 101” remains unclear.

Both fans and Heather Rae El Moussa are hoping season two of “The Flip Off” will pair up Christina and Heather against Tarek, for a whole new twist! So California residents, and the rest of us, won’t have to miss the El Moussas at all!

Georgia Loves ‘Married to Real Estate’

The Peach State is keen on “Married to Real Estate.”

But fellow Georgians Egypt Sherrod and husband Mike Jackson came home from a Mediterranean vacation in June to find that their renovation series had not been renewed.

In an Instagram post, Sherrod wrote, ““While the chain of events leading up to this is disheartening, we are deeply grateful.” The designer went on, “Grateful for four incredible seasons. Grateful for our amazing crew and supportive fans. Grateful that our businesses continue to thrive. And most of all — grateful that we are still very much married to real estate (and to each other).”

Georgia can still root for the series. Egypt and Mike recently got the news that “Married to Real Estate” has been nominated for an Emmy for Outstanding Instructional/How-To Program.

In an Instagram video, Egypt tells followers, “We might be the first show to get nominated after we got canceled! Like, what!?”

Michigan Residents Love ‘Bargain Block’

Michigan viewers are also keeping their love local.

“Bargain Block” is the most popular HGTV show in the Great Lakes State.

And no wonder. The series was filmed in Detroit. We say “was” because “Bargain Block” is another series HGTV did not renew for the coming season.

Designer Keith Bynum broke the news to fans on his Instagram account, writing “Though you may not be seeing us for much longer on HGTV, we’re excited that we’ve built such an amazing base of followers and we’re very excited about the future.”

And indeed, the news is good for Detroit residents who are fans of Keith and partner Evan Thomas’ work. The pair have announced that their design and build firm Nine Design + Homes is taking on new client projects.

So instead of watching them renovate a house on tv, local fans can get Keith and Evan to beautify their homes in person.

New Hampshire Residents Are Fans of ‘Farmhouse Fixer’

For New Hampshire residents, the show they want to tune into the most is “Farmhouse Fixer” with New Kid on the Block Jonathan Knight.

Knight has had a busy season, just wrapping up a NKOTB Las Vegas residency, and competing on season six of “Rock the Block” with brother Jordan Knight.

But Knight and fellow designer Kristina Crestin will have more time on their hands now that HGTV has decided to end “Farmhouse Fixer” after three seasons.

Bandmate Donnie Wahlberg commented on Jonathan’s Instagram post announcing the cancellation, writing, “On to the next one! You got this. We are all ready for what you do next! ❤️”

And fellow “Rock the Block”-er Ty Pennington commented, “Sad to see ya’ll go! Was a pleasure having you both on the block 🙏🏼❤️”

But Jonathan Knight still has plenty to look forward to, and so do his fans.

The New Kids on the Block will return to Las Vegas for the second leg of their residency November 1-15. They’ll circle back a third time February 14-26, 2026.

If this were an election, Drew and Jonathan Scott would take the popular vote.

Their OG show, “The Property Brothers,” is the most popular HGTV show in 13 of the 50 states, including Connecticut, Idaho, Montana, New York, North and South Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Virginia.

That’s more than double of any other show.
