Heather Rae El Moussa Reflects on Her Role as a Mom on Mother’s Day
On May 11, El Moussa took to Instagram to share her thoughts about being a mom.
“Motherhood changed me in ways I never imagined. Becoming a mom to my sweet Tristan, a bonus mom to Tay and Bray, and navigating this beautiful, sometimes chaotic journey with love, gratitude and patience,” she wrote.
El Moussa continued, “I’ve learned so much from the strong women in my life, my incredible mom and my amazing mother-in-law, your support, guidance, and love mean the world. Today, I celebrate you both, and every type of mom out there showing up with strength, heart, and grace.”
The HGTV star added, “I see you! Happy Mother’s Day. 💕”
Her husband Tarek commented, “We all love you so much happy Mother’s Day.”
HGTV Star Calls Motherhood ‘So Fulfilling’
In a May 2025 interview with PopCulture, El Moussa shared how becoming a mom was something she never expected.
She noted that kids weren’t on her radar, but dating a man with children was a game-changer. “I was someone that never thought I was going to have kids. Then I met Tarek, and he had two beautiful kids [daughter Taylor and son Brayden],” she explained. “I never thought I would date someone that had kids. So that was new for me.”
El Moussa continued, “They just brought so much joy to my life that I never knew I could have, and then that made me really want to have my own baby with Tarek.”
The couple welcomed a son, Tristan, in January 2023, and El Moussa shared that motherhood is “better than I could have ever imagined.”
She noted, “Obviously, I love being a stepmom, but then you have your own, and you carry them, and it’s just the most beautiful thing. And [Tristan] is my little Earth angel. So it’s the best thing ever.”
The HGTV star added, “Being a mom has changed everything about me. It’s made me selfless. It’s made me more patient. It’s made me really enjoy life more in a way. As adults, it’s all about stress and work, and kids are so innocent. They are just so happy and [their] giggles and the things that they find joy in, I find joy in … It’s been so fulfilling to me.”
