Forget the chef’s kitchen and the spa bathroom- what Heather Rae El Moussa REALLY wants is a slammin’ closet!
The HGTV star is taking followers along as she and husband Tarek El Moussa transform their new home into their dream home. And why not start with the most important room in the house- the closet, right?
In a video posted on her Instagram account, Heather shows her and Tarek El Moussa’s meeting with their closet designer. Heather writes, “Starting the closet design process and we’re so excited to bring you along for it! 💕 What’s one thing your dream closet has to have? I need ideas—drop them below! 👇
Our first session with @tailoredclosetoc is officially underway, and let’s just say… we’re not holding back. From custom layouts to swatch selection, we’re making it fit exactly how we live. (Which basically means 10 drawers for my sweat sets 😉)
I may or may not be taking over 90% of the space… Tarek’s just hoping for a drawer and somewhere to hang his black shirts 😂”
In the video, they pick cabinet finishes (Heather likes black), glass (smoky grey), countertops and even a large island in the middle of closet! Heather asks for more shoe storage and gets shelves for shoes and purses.
At one point the designer questions if Tarek will have a side of the closet. “I gotta have a side!” Tarek exclaims. Heather replies, “How about I just get the whole closet?” with a knowing look at the camera.
Tarek & Heather Prepare for a Big Move
Heather and Tarek revealed that they were moving in a joint Instagram post June 23.
In the video, they took followers on a tour of the empty house, with Heather writing, “If you know us, you knew we weren’t going to be leaving these walls white… welcome to the official start of our home series! 😁🏡

The tour showed high ceilings and large, open rooms, with Heather explaining her plans for each room and Tarek chiming in about tv placement.
In the video, Heather tells the camera, “We fell in love with this house and how open it is. When we walked in, it was just like high ceilings, everything was open.”
Heather Rae Talks About Her Five Year Plan
Moving is just one of the things on Heather Rae El Moussa’s agenda right now.
The designer appears on the cover of the latest issue of P.O.W.E.R. magazine. In the accompanying article, Heather talks about her goals for the next five years.
She says, “Personally, I hope to have another baby and keep building a strong, blended family full of love and support. Professionally, I aim to expand Heather Rae Essentials into a full lifestyle brand- covering beauty, wellness and home- and continuing to inspire women to embrace every role they have with confidence and grace.”
Heather goes on, “I plan to further my TV career, focus on our production company and continue to co-produce our shows along with others. I’m excited to continue flipping houses, learning and honing my design skills. I’d also love to do another TV show, write a book and keep working on becoming the best version of myself every day.”
Heather also lets fans in on what they’re likely to see in she and Tarek’s new home, saying she likes “soft neutrals, wood elements, organic textures and soft, dimmable lighting throughout.”
