Former HGTV Star Teases Likely Return With Revamped Show

Four months after revealing she had no plans to return to her HGTV show, interior designer and social media sensation Galey Alix is ready to reconsider.

Alix starred in 2023’s “Home in a Heartbeat” for one season and appeared on other HGTV series in 2024, including “100 Day Hotel Challenge” and “House Hunters: All Stars.” But the pressure of revamping clients’ homes in a weekend — which was the premise of her show — turned out to be exhausting and nearly impossible as cameras followed her everywhere.

However, after having time to reflect, revealed in her Instagram Stories on March 22, 2025, that she’s beginning to come up ways to revamp the premise so she can return to TV.

Galey Alix Proposes Idea for New HGTV Show

Answering questions from fans in a Q&A session within her Instagram Stories, Alix responded to one who asked, “When will you do your show again I miss watching it ❤️”

Posting a photo from filming “Home in a Heartbeat” of her with her dog Patch trailing behind her, Alix replied, “I have a feeling we’ll do another show again.. but it will have to be a different premise.”

In November, Alix told People that she had decided not to film a second season of her show because it was so hard on her mental and physical health, explaining, “I feel like I set myself up for failure, because I wanted to renovate whole homes in 72 hours with my team. But I’m also a perfectionist with obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), which means I’m not going to let us cut any corners. We’re not going to throw things up, do it quickly and not make it perfect because I don’t have enough time. It had to be right.”

“It got to a point where it was just like, I don’t think I’d survive a season 2,” she continued, adding, “I can’t do Home in a Heartbeat, because my heart will stop beating.”

But in her Instagram Stories on March 22, she proposed shifting the way her home makeovers are done in order to make a show work again.

She wrote, “Maybe people submit a loved one who deserves a makeover & we surprise them without them evening knowing we’re coming! But we need more sleep, so maybe a week turnaround instead of a weekend!”

Galey Alix Has Left Her Goldman Sachs Job to Focus on Interior Design

While filming her HGTV show, Alix was also still working as a vice president and regional director at Goldman Sachs in Florida, a job she held for over a decade, according to her LinkedIn profile.

Alix fell into design on a whim, transforming friends’ spaces and posting fast-paced before-and-after videos on social media, where she’s amassed millions of followers. Discovering that gift for interior design, Alix has said, helped her heal during a mental health crisis and treatment for disordered eating.

Her interior design services and work with HGTV got so consuming she eventually left her job in finance behind. When a fan asked her whether she missed the “hustle and bustle of Wall Street” as part of her Q&A on March 22, Alix said she hasn’t looked back.

“I will always choose working for myself over working on Wall Street again,” Alix replied. “Goldman Sachs was amazing to me, I loved it there. But renovating homes, building a team, creating product lines, writing a book…it’s 50x more stressful than Wall Street & I sleep a lot less doing it, but my soul has NEVER felt more whole. This makes me feel alive and I’m happy to hustle for as long as I get this feeling.”
