HGTV’s Egypt Sherrod & Mike Jackson Share Moving Tributes to Famous Friend: ‘So Sad Today’

Popular HGTV couple Egypt Sherrod and Mike Jackson were stunned by the news of R&B singer Angie Stone’s death on March 1, 2025. According to TMZ, Stone died at age 63 in Montgomery, Alabama, when the sprinter van she was in crashed. Eight others were injured in the accident, the outlet said.

As news of the tragedy quickly spread, Sherrod posted a screenshot of the TMZ article on Instagram and wrote, “I literally just fell to the floor. This hearts my heart deeply. She was kind, true, honest, a peacemaker, respected and loved. Thank you Angie for our conversations. 🙏🏽🙏🏽 you will be deeply missed.”

Atlanta-based Sherrod and Jackson, who co-star on “Married to Real Estate,” followed up Sherrod’s initial post with moving tributes to Stone, expressing how much they cherished the Grammy nominee personally and professionally.

Shortly after her first post, Sherrod posted a photograph with Stone and shared additional reflections on her late friend, writing, “Rest in peace and power Angie! You had a heart of gold. And every conversation left my cup full. Even when folks were trying to take me out, you held me down in the light and the dark.”

“We shared a spirit for uplifting the community,” Sherrod continued, “and I only hope when GOD calls me home that I will have touched as many souls as you have. A true spirit even without the lights camera or action. So sad today. We lost a real one yall.”

Sherrod and Stone had known each other for more than a decade, often appearing at the same events together. In 2015, they appeared on a panel at the Merge Symposium in Atlanta, while in 2022, they both attended the Atlanta red carpet premiere of “A Jazzman’s Blues,” per Getty.

Meanwhile, Jackson — who spent years as a celebrity DJ, traveling the world as DJ Fadelf, per HGTV — shared his own tribute to Stone. Posting a photo of himself with the singer, he wrote, “Another amazing mother, daughter, friend, artist, kind spirit gone too soon. @theangiestone you will be missed. Thank you for your impact in life and within the music industry.”

“I once had the honor to work with Angie in a studio session,” Jackson continued, “and engage in meaningful conversations with her at gatherings. She never held back the advice. Ladies and gentleman please enjoy and appreciate everyday you open your eyes to see another day.”


Outpouring of Love For Angie Stone From Famous Friends & Fans

Stone was riding in a sprinter van after a performance in Montgomery, heading back to Atlanta on March 1 when the vehicle “flipped over and was subsequently hit by a big rig,” Stone’s manager and collaborator Walter Millsap III told The Associated Press. The accident happened at 4:25 a.m., killing Stone and injuring eight others, the outlet said.

An outpouring of tributes to Stone, whose biggest hit was “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” were posted by celebrities including singer and talk show host Jennifer Hudson, comedian Amy Sedaris, singer Montell Jordan, and Chance The Rapper.

Many fans and friends flocked to Sherrod and Jackson’s posts to share their own grief and messages of sympathy, including one who wrote, “I’M HEARTBROKEN 💔 😢RIP BEAUTIFUL SOUL 🕊️🕊️🕊️”
