Drew Scott Reveals His Twin Birth Was a Shocking Surprise

HGTV star Drew Scott may be one of the most famous twins in the world, but he started his life totally unknown- even to his own mother!

In a new episode of the podcast “Rodiculous,” the Property Brother reveals that he was a total surprise to his mom, who found out she was pregnant with twins in the delivery room AFTER giving birth to brother Jonathan.

“So imagine you’re having your baby, you’re going through labor, it’s finally done and you’re like ‘relief, finally that’s past me,’ and then the nurse is like, ‘I think there’s another baby,'” Drew told podcaster Rosanna Pansino.

“My mom had no idea,” Drew continued as Rosanna gasped, “No way! That’s how she found out?”

Drew explained, “I have an older brother, and this time around my mom was way bigger than she was with JD. And so, my mom was like, ‘Are you sure it’s not twins or something?’ and the doctor was like, ‘No, it’s just one big baby.’ They didn’t do an ultrasound.”

Drew says he and Jonathan’s heartbeats were in sync, so without an ultrasound, there was no way to know he was in there.

Drew Scott Reveals Mom’s Hilarious Reaction to His Birth

The “Chasing the West” star says when the nurse told the doctor there was another baby, it wasn’t exactly a Hallmark moment.

Drew says chuckling, “My mom’s words to bring me into this world were ‘oh [expletive].'”

Then Drew says after he was born, his mom named him Andrew Alfred Scott, pointing out that the monogram spells out another expletive. “And I think that was just to stick it to me for surprising her,” he joked.

Drew Scott Reveals Epic Family Trip to Scotland

Drew Scott also revealed on the podcast that, just like fellow HGTV stars Erin and Ben Napier, he spent part of his summer on a family trip to Scotland.

“Imagine traveling, it was ten people. We had a one-year-old, a three-year-old, a 91-year-old, an 81-year-old and Linda’s parents as well,” he said on the podcast.

Drew went on, “It was a lot but we went to my dad’s hometown in Scotland. He’s from Scotland. It was a small town. And then we went and stayed in a castle. It was amazing. And I love touring castles. In fact, that’s what got me into architecture as a kid, seeing all these stone castles and the ruins as well.”

Drew Scott Says His Love of Castles Inspired a Hobby

While Drew and brother Jonathan Scott’s new shows like “Chasing the West” and the soon-to-come “Top of the Block” focus on less ancient times, the Property Brother says his love of old castles inspired his hobby of collecting.

“That’s also why I collect medieval armor and swords and old ancient coins. Because I used to be in these castles and I would reach my hand in every crevice and I would find old coins and buckles and things from a thousand years ago. I have a whole collection that is basically from those days as a 5-year-old or a 10-year-old exploring Scotland,” he revealed.
