Dave & Jenny Marrs Tackle Unique ‘Catio’ Design Feature on ‘Fixer to Fabulous’

Dave and Jenny Marrs delivered a unique design feature on HGTV‘s “Fixer to Fabulous” — a pet-friendly area called a catio. In the February 4, 2025 episode, the homeowners requested a space for the cats that they foster. It all turned out perfectly, plus the Marrs family got a special addition to their family after the episode.

The “Fixer to Fabulous” season 7, episode 5 synopsis explains, “Dave and Jenny take on a big mid-century home for a pet-loving family of four.”

In a February 3 Instagram post, Jenny shared more about the home renovation project and, specifically, the catio.

“The CATIO!! Ok I think this is the most brilliant use of space for a cat-lover and cat-foster mom parent like Holly. AND, selfishly, I love it even more because the Catio brought Lloyd into our lives! ♥️🙌,” Jenny shared in the caption.

She continued, “When Holly texted me about how much her new fosters kittens liked the space, I couldn’t get past how adorable itty bitty Lloyd was and we adopted our sweet boy not long after.”

The HGTV star noted, “And, not only was Holly our kitten’s foster momma but our family’s connection goes back even further. Holly and Chris’ son is also Congolese and I originally met Holly when she moved her son into the same foster home Sylvie had lived in for over a year while we waited to bring her home.”

Jenny added, “Needless to say, we love the Brookhousers and cannot wait for you all to see this project! Their home renovation was such a big one that you’ll get to see it over the course of the next two weeks!”

The ‘Fixer to Fabulous’ Stars Were Initially Baffled by the Catio Request

Jenny included a clip from the episode showing her husband Dave’s stunned reaction to hearing about the catio. “A what?” he says with a blank stare.

The homeowner explains, “It’s a patio for cats.”

Jenny asks her husband, “A catio. Have you ever heard of a catio?”

Dave responds, “No, I haven’t.”

The pair are, of course, up for the task, even though they have no familiarity with the cat patio concept! Jenny and Dave deliver exactly what the homeowners requested, building an enclosed space that is perfect for cats to explore and lounge in.

Dave explains as they build, “This is all cat cubicles.” Then he has a lightbulb moment about cat condos, saying, “Oooh.”

“But do we want to leave some room in between the windows to build like condos they can climb up in if they want a penthouse condo?” he asks. “Depending on where they want to be … like a cat skyrise, a catscraper.”

They bring Dave’s idea to life and build the perfect cat space. “I can’t wait to show Holly the catio,” Jenny says. “I know she’s really going to love this.”

The reveal shows the homeowners absolutely thrilled with the outcome, as they remark, “Oh my gosh” and “This is amazing.”
