HGTV star Christina Haack shared advice her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa gave her about her July 2024 breakup with Josh Hall, whom she wed in 2022.
In a January 2025 Us Weekly interview, Haack, Tarek El Moussa, and his wife Heather El Moussa discussed their upcoming HGTV series, “The Flip Off.” Haack referenced that Hall filmed for the series until their breakup. According to Haack, Tarek El Moussa was aware of her issues with Hall before production of “The Flip Off” began. Haack said she told her ex-husband she was nervous about filming with Hall, as their relationship was rocky.
“I’d been talking to Tarek about problems Josh and I had been having for a minimum of 12 months. I was nervous going into the show, and Tarek said, ‘If you guys split up and we’re filming, just make it part of the story,'” said Haack.
Haack also said Tarek El Moussa offered her words of encouragement after she and Hall broke up. She suggested she was concerned about the criticism she may receive for getting divorced three times.
“Tarek told me, ‘Who cares what anyone thinks? Who cares if you’ve gone through three divorces? The kids love you, you’re successful, you’re nice,'” said Haack to the publication.
Heather Rae El Moussa & Tarek El Moussa Shared Their Thoughts About Josh Hall’s Exit
While speaking to Entertainment Tonight in November 2024, Heather Rae El Moussa and Tarek El Moussa spoke about Hall leaving “The Flip Off” during the show’s production.
“It was kind of nice to see him go,” said Heather Rae El Moussa during the interview.
Tarek El Moussa also shared that Haack was initially upset after Hall’s exit.
“At the beginning she was going through it, but she recovers really quick. You can just tell her energy is back. She’s happy, she’s excited about life,” said Tarek El Moussa to Entertainment Tonight.
In a separate November 2024 Entertainment Tonight interview, Haack said filming became “so much better” after Hall left the show. She said that Hall felt insecure about her dynamic with Tarek El Moussa, the father of her eldest children, Taylor and Brayden. In addition, Haack said she was purposefully dimming her own light to ensure Hall did not “feel emasculated.”
“When someone is insecure by you, and doesn’t like to watch you win. That really puts a damper on everything,” said Haack to the publication.
Tarek El Moussa Opened up About His Split From Christina Haack
Tarek El Moussa and Haack finalized their divorce in 2018. In a February 2024 interview with E! News, Tarek El Moussa opened up about his breakup with his ex-wife. He said issues started after he was recovering from surgery following his cancer diagnosis. According to Tarek El Moussa, after he had nearly recovered he hurt his back, causing him to be on “opioids for a year.” He then started using testosterone injections, altering his behavior.
Tarek El Moussa said that Haack ended their relationship in 2016. He said the situation was “heartbreaking.” However, the father of three said he understood why Haack needed to end their marriage.
“I was a mess for quite a few years,” said Tarek El Moussa to the publication.
