Christina Haack is dishing on the most “shocking” part about filming with her ex-husband Tarek El Moussa and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa. HGTV‘s “The Flip Off” pits the El Moussas against Christina and, despite the competitive nature of the show, the trio are pretty close.

In a January 2025 interview with House Beautiful, the trio discussed how well they worked together during filming and had fun doing the show, something Christina called “shocking.”
When asked what surprised them most about filming together, Heather Rae joked, “That we actually collaborated for a change.”
Christina shared, “It was super fun. I think that’s shocking.”
They may get competitive on the show, but Tarek emphasized co-parenting their children comes first.
“We always put the kids first,” he said. “Through that, we were able to rebuild our friendship — and that really came because of Heather and Christina really getting along.”
Heather Rae noted, “It would’ve been tough if we didn’t like each other. It would’ve been a whole different life.”
Heather, Tarek, and Christina Are a Co-Parenting Team
During the January 28 episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” Christina, Heather Rae, and Tarek talked a bit about co-parenting and what their kids think of the show. In part, the HGTV series is showing the children how their parents can get along and work together.
“The point is it’s better for the kids when everyone’s getting along, and we genuinely are,” Christina explained. “And we’re genuinely having so much fun doing this show.”
Heather Rae added, “I feel like the kids love it that we’re doing a show together, and they can see their parents all working together. They love it. They’re very supportive.”
Of course, co-parenting isn’t always easy, as they all shared how they can be embarrassing to their kids. “The sound of my voice embarrasses [teen daughter Taylor], even when I’m not talking,” Tarek joked.
Christina said her daughter is also embarrassed by “the songs I play when I drop her off, if the windows are down.”
Heather Rae noted, “She’s embarrassed by us. We have a sprinter, and if we show up in the sprinter, she’s like ‘Why are you in the sprinter?'”
Her attempt at convincing the teen that they’re “cool,” however, falls on deaf ears — something that a lot of parents can relate to!
