Four months into an intense back and forth since Christina Haack and her estranged husband both filed for divorce, the longtime HGTV star has upped the ante in her increasingly bitter divorce.
According to court documents obtained and reviewed by Heavy, the “Christina on the Coast” star filed paperwork on November 21, 2024, to replace her divorce lawyer with high-powered celebrity attorney Laura Wasser as she battles her third husband, Josh Hall, over their assets after nearly three years of marriage.
An inside source told Us Weekly on November 25 that Haack “decided to go with the best divorce attorney out there to try and wrap this up quickly and fairly.”
Christina Haack’s New Lawyer Has Represented Many A-List Celebrities

Since Haack and Hall filed for divorce in July, the former “Flip or Flop” star had been represented by Matthew DeArmey, a lawyer whom Hall accused in October of filing court documents that were “riddled with lies.” It’s not specifically known if that contributed to Haack’s decision to switch lawyers, but she decided to upgrade to one of the best-known in Hollywood.
According to Us Weekly, Wasser’s past A-list clients include Angelina Jolie, dating back to 2003 in her divorce from Billy Bob Thorton and her split from Brad Pitt in 2016, as well as Johnny Depp, Christina Aguilera, Ryan Reynolds and Jennifer Garner. Wasser also represented Kim Kardashian in her 2020 divorce from Kanye West, the outlet said.
That kind of representation isn’t cheap. In 2016, Bloomberg reported that Wasser typically represented clients with a net worth of $10 million or more and required a $25,000 retainer fee. Her hourly fee, the outlet said at the time, was $850 an hour.
In May, when Wasser appeared on the “Just B Divorce” podcast hosted by former “Real Housewives” star Bethenny Frenkel, she said that as a divorce attorney, “Our job is kind of to create a narrative tell a story and then, as our client is on the stand through direct examination and then eventually in cross (examination), really show that that person is credible and that our narrative is the one that the judge should believe and make decisions based on.”
Christina Haack & Josh Hall

Haack and Hall had begun dating in the spring of 2021 shortly after Haack purchased a second home outside of Nashville where “Christina in the Country” is filmed.
Among the sticking points in their divorce, according to court records, has been Hall’s claim that he should receive proceeds from the sale of that farmhouse, known as Parker Branch. When Haack put the home on the market insisting it was her sole property, Hall successfully requested that the court stop her from selling the house until an agreement had been reached about his income from the estate.
Haack was previously married to fellow HGTV star Tarek El Moussa and TV personality Ant Anstead, both of whom she’s on good terms with as they co-parent their kids and even film for HGTV. Haack has teamed up with El Moussa and his current wife, Heather Rae El Moussa, for a 2025 home flipping competition series called “The Flip-Off,” and it was revealed in early November that Anstead will appear on the show, too.
