HGTV’s Christina Haack Bewildered by Her Marriage to Josh Hall: ‘It Doesn’t Make Sense’

Looking back on her nearly three-year marriage to Josh Hall, longtime HGTV star Christina Haack, 41, says she can’t make heads or tails of her decision to be in a relationship with the former California police officer. The exes filed for divorce in July 2024 and continue to battle over their assets.

“I feel like I woke up and I was like, ‘What the hell was I just doing with my life?'” she said during an appearance on SiriusXM’s “Jeff Lewis Live” on January 10, 2025.

“It makes no sense,” Haack said, theorizing that “something happened” beyond her control that caused her to fall for Hall, who formed a production company with her and appeared in episodes of her now-defunct show “Christina in the Country” and multiple episodes of “Christina on the Coast.”

“I believe in karma, and things happen for a reason,” she told Lewis, “and I feel like I had to go through that because it makes no freaking sense. Doesn’t make sense to my friends, it doesn’t make sense to my family, it just doesn’t make a lot of sense.”

Days after the scathing interview, Haack left the country with her rumored new beau. But on the way, she and Hall traded insults over what she told Lewis.

Christina Haack Says She Learned Important Lessons, But Will ‘Never Be Friends’ With Josh Hall

Haack, who has returned to using her maiden name, met Hall in Nashville in early 2022, where she bought a farmhouse a few months prior for getaways with her kids — 14-year-old Taylor and nine-year-old Brayden from her marriage to fellow HGTV star Tarek El Moussa, and five-year-old Hudson from her marriage to TV personality Ant Anstead.

She also filmed “Christina in the Country” there for two seasons, but said that show is “over.” With no plans to return to the Nashville area, Haack has listed the home for $4.5 million. Though Hall initially blocked the sale via the courts, it is now back on the market.

Haack told Lewis that when she first met Hall, she’d “just been through some, like, rough stuff and I think initially, it’s like he portrayed himself as being protective … but he was really just not. He was, like, kind of the opposite of what he portrayed as time went on.”

In a clip from the upcoming competition series “The Flip-Off,” on which Hall will initially appear as their split plays out on the show, HGTV released footage of an uncomfortable exchange between the two, in which Hall told Haack to “shut up already” and that she was “pissing me off.” The show will premiere on January 29.

Telling Lewis that she’s “mostly hard on myself” for diving into the relationship — and choosing to get married within months of meeting, despite certain red flags — Haack said the failed relationship did teach her many valuable lessons.

“I learned a lot,” she said, “and they’re like very big lessons, and I actually feel them this time. It will never happen again.”

Haack also insisted that after they reach a divorce settlement, “There will never be communication, ever. The things that he’s done are unspeakable. We’ll never be friends.”

Christina Haack Claps Back at Josh Hall’s Rep While On Her Way to Paris

Haack told Lewis that her ex refuses mediation and wants their divorce to go to trial. Hall, meanwhile, has gone Instagram official with his girlfriend, Nashville-based model Stephanie Gabrys, sharing a photo in his Stories of them together on January 13, per Closer Weekly, and calling her a “real life angel.”

In response to Haack’s comments about him on “Jeff Lewis Live,” a rep for Hall told Us Weekly, “Hall is not available for comment, as he’s continuing to live his life in the present and celebrating his beautiful new girlfriend’s birthday. Christina knows nothing about Josh’s life, and it’s sad she keeps speculating. Her accusations are baseless.”

Responding via her Instagram Stories, Haack shared a screenshot of the article on January 14 and wrote over it, “I just threw up in my mouth. Quoting a Mariah Carey song is a new low.. even for you. Trust me idgaf about Josh’s life. I do however care about his bts tactics. Narcissism at its finest.”

Haack’s response came an hour after she shared a photo in her Stories of champagne and caviar in a ReservePS guest suite at the airport, writing “Bon Voyage” over the photo. The next day, she posted a pic of the Eiffel Tower illuminated at night and another of two cocktails at a high-end bar, over which she wrote, “Pretty details.”

On January 15, The Daily Mail published photos of Haack boarding a plane at LAX with her rumored new boyfriend, business executive Christopher Larocca. The outlet had previously reported that a source said the two have been dating for “several months.”
