Christina Haack Says She Knew ‘Flip Off’ Would Lead to Breakup With Josh Hall

Christina Haack had a gut feeling that her new HGTV show “The Flip Off” would mean the end of her marriage with Josh Hall. Her now ex only appears in one episode of the show because they split shortly after filming started.

In a January 2025 interview with People, Haack shared how she knew that her breakup with Hall was coming as soon as they started filming “The Flip Off.”

Hall filed for divorce in July 2024 and left the show. Haack continued solo, competing against her first husband, Tarek El Moussa, and his wife, Heather Rae El Moussa.

When asked if the split made her want to quit “The Flip Off,” she told People, “No, I kind of knew it was going to happen.”

Haack said she discussed it with Tarek and Heather. “I’d been talking to both of them about it. They were aware that there were issues and it’s something that we had to sidebar on in regards to how all of us were going to handle even filming with Josh because there was already some difficulty there,” she explained.

The HGTV star added, “So they weren’t surprised. And they were also very, very supportive.”

While she admitted the breakup was a “distraction,” she put her focus on the flipping competition.

“I think it relieved that stress. The show was stressful in itself for different reasons not even having to do with our dynamic,” Haack explained. “Just flipping a house that fast and I haven’t flipped in a long time. So I think it was a good distraction.”

During the January 29 premiere of “The Flip Off,” Haack and Tarek had a conversation about her relationship with Hall. She told Tarek that she and Hall separated, sharing with him some of what she was going through.

“You make him very insecure,” Haack told Tarek. “Every time we would barely joke at [the kids’] soccer, or if I laughed at you, he like would not speak to me for two to three days. I would get the silent treatment.”

Haack explained how Hall insulted her. “He doesn’t like me,” she said. “He calls me cocky.” She added, “He thinks I’m arrogant, when we both know I’m not cocky or arrogant and I just do work.”

Tarek offered his support to his distressed ex. “You’re not any of those things. He’s projecting. You’re a great mother, you’re a great daughter,” the HGTV star said.

He added, “You are a great human.”
