Chip and Joanna Gaines celebrated their 22nd wedding anniversary May 31, but they’ve been getting ready for it for a lot longer, as an adorable new video Joanna posted on Instagram shows.
The video features Chip and Jo taking dance lessons, whirling, twirling and Texas two-stepping in a large, open room with concrete floors. In the caption, Joanna writes, “❤️ T W E N T Y T W O Y E A R S ❤️
We’ve loved turning our date nights into dance nights. We are going to need quite a few more lessons but this is so much fun! Thanks for you patience, @dancewaco 😉”
Chip & Joanna Have Been Trying New Things Together This Year
Chip and Joanna Gaines have made this a year of trying new things together.
In January, Joanna put up a post on Instagram revealing that she and Chip started working out together. In the caption, she wrote, “For the first time in our marriage, Chip and I decided to work out together. We started working w/ our friend @donsaladino in September and when he asked me to do push-ups on our first day I said, “I can’t. My back.”
A few months in and I’ve never felt stronger. Today I did FIFTY push-ups! So I’m celebrating and putting this out there… I’ve let time, age, injury, and busyness be my excuse of why not to workout. I’m finally over the “it’s too hard” hump and I’m ready to go! Who’s with me?!”
Chip & Joanna Gaines Met at Her Dad’s Auto Shop
Joanna was working at her dad’s auto shop in Waco, Texas when she met Chip Gaines in the waiting room in 2001.
The couple dated for a year before Chip proposed in 2002. In 2003, the pair married at the historic Earle-Harrison House in Waco.
They share five children. Drake is 20 and attends college about an hour from Waco. Ella is 18 and just graduated from high school. She’ll go to college in the fall. Duke is 17, Emmie is 15 and Crew is 6.
Anniversary Comes Six Weeks After Joanna’s Birthday
Chip and Joanna’s anniversary celebration comes about six weeks after Joanna’s birthday. The “Mini-Reni” designer turned 47 on April 19.
To celebrate, Chip put up an Instagram post that read, “My. Best. Friend. Happy birthday, Joey.. I love you!!”
Back in November, Chip celebrated a milestone birthday, turning 50. Joanna posted a video of his surprise party, writing, “We finally got the super 8 vintage film back from Chip’s surprise party in November—F I F T Y Y E A R S ! —what a life you’ve lived, what a night we had celebrating you✨
I asked our dear friend Abner w/ @johnnyswim to write a song for Chip and this lyrical/musical genius whipped it up in like a day and put it on a vinyl for us so we can listen to it every morning when Chip wakes up 😂 Thank you thank you 👏🏼❤️👏🏼
