Chip & Joanna Gaines Have Unwelcome Guests on Farm

Chip and Joanna Gaines’ Texas farm is their haven away from the craziness of running their Magnolia empire.

But some recent uninvited guests have disturbed the peace of Joanna’s much-loved flower garden.. and cast Chip in the role of hero.

Joanna Gaines posted a video on Instagram panning the beautiful blooms of her elaborate Waco garden, only to stop and zoom in on Chip in the distance, holding a large snake. Her caption reads, “It was such a pretty evening in the garden until 🐍😳

Thank you @chipgaines for relocating the rat snake!” Under the video, Joanna has chosen the song “My Hero” by Foo Fighters.

In her Instagram stories, Jo posted other instances of Chip dispatching large snakes who showed up in the garden.

Joanna Says Her Garden is a Testing Ground for the Silos

Snakes aside, Joanna Gaines says she likes to use her garden as a testing ground for new blooms.

If she loves them and they grow well in her Waco soil, you’re likely to see the same varieties before too long at the Gaines’ Magnolia Silos.

Jo walked “Good Morning America’s” Lori Bergamotto through the Silo gardens ahead of the May 14 premiere of Jo’s newest show “Mini Reni.”

In the interview, Jo called the garden “quiet and magical.” In fact, Joanna says nature is one of her greatest teachers, and bringing the outside in is something you’ll see a lot on her new show.

“I feel like what the garden is telling me, it’s giving me permission to, you know, play with color, add those fresh layers of texture.”

Joanna’s ‘Test Garden’ Gave Her a New Favorite Bloom

Joanna recently posted on her Instagram account about her love of experimenting with new plants on the family farm. She wrote, “I want my garden at the farm be a place where I try new things and stretch myself beyond my comfort zone. Ranunculus were my fresh experiment last spring, and they ended up completely winning me over when they were the first to bloom and their petals burst open in layers of pinks and oranges and creams. I loved the reminder that there is reward in risk.”

In fact, ranunculus is such a favorite of the designer’s now, she’s had her team at the Magnolia Silos plant them there for guests to enjoy.

Jo recently took fans on a tour of her home garden on Instagram, explaining in the video that everything that is in such beautiful full bloom now was actually planted last November. She says her garden teaches her patience, saying, “And patience can be hard sometimes, but what I’ve learned is, when we wait, beauty will always come. Don’t forget that.”
