Chip and Joanna Gaines have a lot of reasons to feel nostalgic these days, as two of their five kids leave for college after a full summer of togetherness.
But that’s not the only thing that has the former HGTV stars looking to the past.
In a video Joanna Gaines just posted on Instagram, the designer announced that she and Chip have reopened her original little shop where all Joanna’s design dreams started to form.
In the post, Joanna writes, “Little Shop on Bosque is back! We recently refreshed and restocked the original Magnolia shop in Waco and it makes me so happy to see it open again—this is where it all began and every time I step inside it takes me straight back to my very first opening day 🤍
Come see us Wednesdays—Saturdays and take a look at the new & improved shop!”
Shop on Bosque is Where Magnolia Name Started an Empire
On the Magnolia.com website, a page about “The Little Shop on Bosque” says, “After years of dreaming of opening her own home decor boutique, Chip encouraged Jo to open a little store that they decided to call Magnolia. The shop opened for business in 2003. Fun fact: Chip made the metal letter sign for Joanna and it still sits atop the building today.”
While its name is now “Little Shop on Bosque,” it was the original Magnolia Market.
The page details the history of the little shop where Joanna first started building her empire. It reads, “They closed its doors a few years to focus on raising their kids, then reopened in 2014 — but quickly outgrew the space. Magnolia Market was relocated to the Silos property downtown in 2015, now home to an even bigger dream of both Chip and Joanna’s. In 2018, the original store was renamed the Little Shop on Bosque, restored to its former glory, and is now back in business!”
Joanna Gaines Reflects on How the Magnolia Name Has Grown
Chip and Joanna Gaines have always held onto their original shop, even when its doors were closed.
In 2021, Chip and Jo were preparing to launch their “Magnolia Network.” Joanna put up an Instagram post revealing that she was feeling nostalgic and had to drive by the little shop where everything started.
In the post, she wrote, “I had to drive by today because I was just feelin’ all the feels. Never in a million years did I think this little shop we opened in 2003 called Magnolia would one day have the word “network” after it. I still can’t fully take it all in, but I’m thankful for everything that led us to this point—both the small, simple moments and also the big, exciting and difficult ones.
I really believe that dreams beget dreams. So whatever it is you’re dreaming about—whether it’s what to make for dinner or what business you’re wanting to create—the world needs the passions and gifts you carry deep inside.
So keep dreaming. And don’t measure success by the size of a dream fulfilled. Base it on growth and the many things you learn along the way.”
